Hey Guys I know its kinda far away, but me and some others are planning a july 2-5 trip down there and reservations sell fast (850 on sat to like 520 today) so the more the better.
 
now to day was a good day

So all of the people that I thought were coming, apparently none of them got reservations.
So now I have a reservation that I am tring to get rid of.
It is for one vehicle w/ a trailered car or trailer.
I paid 37 for it, I would like to get some of the money back but no biggy
 
Very interested! Let me talk to my friends to see if we can do it! (Just got to see if they don't mind leaving their vehicles around)
 
anyone looking to go next year should make the reservations now, just a smart idea.

we do not take reservations that far in advance. 6 months in advance is the limit.

also, be sure to give the paperwork to who ever you sell that pass too. We are getting a lot more strict on people that do not bring the paperwork because technically, thats the only proof of purchase. If i wasn't on vacation the 1st through 5th I could've gotten you guys passes. Maybe next year.

JeepCherokeeboy97... looks like I'll end up getting in hehe. Sorry my PM box was full earlier, it is cleared out now. Thanks for the guidance... Also is it sold out for the 2nd / 3rd also? Or just the 4th?

Alright maybe we can hit up the dunes or whatever... I think I'll probably drive up on friday though, as most of the guys I am going with can't get Thursday off also...

JeepCherokeeboy97: how strict are they going to be this weekend? When I was there before people did fireworks and had big bonfires all the time, are they going to be cracking down on stuff like that, or mostly just cracking down on drinking /driving.
 
thats weird because my family always makes reservation a year in advance....where do you work? i have never heard of this 6 month advance only deal.......honestly its always been a year in advance, we camp and make the reservations as we leave for the next year.

last time we were there was in '05 and i believe we used the last name Woodman, my grandparents always handle it so im not sure what name they used, could have been an Uncle or Aunt also for all i know. i do know we did the year in advance though because they always made it a point to do it yearly.

I think it depends on where exactly you make reservations, whether it be on the beach itself or the campgrounds right off the beach. Jeepcherokeeboy work for the cal parks dept.
Also, things may have changed semi-recently also
 
i have only been there 3 times, but they camp off the beach just down the street from the giant Kragens i think. the spots are right behind the dunes if i remember right. it could be a new deal, because i remember the beach spots being a year in advance also. i met a few guys on the beach with there RV and an XJ and they were also sayin they did the reservations the year prior...im interested though...i would like to get a trip planned for next year out there, but on the beach itself. my family stopped doin our Pismo trip due to family issues and all that drama. sucks really, but maybe the younger generation of the family could get it goin again who knows.

We have 5 new rangers on so i wouldn't be suprised if a lot of people will be made examples of. Every ranger will be working on the fourth. We will be much more strict this year and the years to come. Fireworks are still prohibited on the beach at all times. Any fireworks made aware of will be confiscated. However, DUI's will definitley be a major focus this year as well. Stay safe and drive carefully, i don't feel like scraping my NAXJA buddies off the dunes. Have a great weekend and ill see ya out there.

We use Reserve America for all state parks. They tend to mess up a lot so i wouldn't be suprised if you were able to make the reservation as early as you did. The reservations for the 4th sold out in january. (which is the earliest we could have sold them) I have worked for the dept. of parks and rec and Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area for a year now, so it may have been a recent change within the past couple years.
 
Ill be there. But just like the deer valley run, no jeep for me. Keep an eye out for a yellow 400ex and a 450r with a flame graphics kit. Hope to see you out there.
