It just occurred to me: The Auburn requires a ridge on the inside of the case to be trimmed/ground down(I have on in mine). Unless they've changed the design, if the dif housing isn't clearanced , the dif case will rub the housing, and make it impossible to adjust backlash properly. If I recall right, mine wouldn't even go in without the cut. Maybe they didn't clearance the case properly, then set the pinion deep to try to make the gears mesh?
