I have been shooting with a D300 with 17-55mm f2.8 for a few years, I just sold my D300 and actually downgraded to a D90. The image on both cameras is comparable and I can now do HD videos. The shoot of the moon was a tripod shoot with a 300mm lens F/2.8 1/5000 shutter at iso 200, then was cropped a little to remove black space.
