Phil doesn't ever take pictures of his junk, so I came over and took pictures while he built a new, higher clearance, less hanging out in space front bumper... Im putting this in Sierra Chapter, because I dont think Phil would ever see it if I put it in Mod Tech... Though AD Fab might be a good place... ?

I think his goals were:
make it look kinda like the rear bumper
use lotsa toob
hold a winch
tie in fender bars

started with JeepFreek21's bender - (THANKS BILLY again! :D)

and a pile of Jeep -

Before I got there Friday night, Phil had already installed JKS SBS Plates on both sides of the frame rail, welded up a strong front crossmember, and installed some 1.5x1.5x.120 box toob to mount the winch (but not drilled for winch yet).

and stocked the fridge with beverage -

using the high tech Harbor Freight Russian welding blanket and a marker, we decided what to do with the toob -
stp82610.jpg

drew some lines -
stp82613.jpg

and made something -
stp82614.jpg

cut the rectangular toob to length -
stp82617.jpg

clamped some stuff on -
stp82619.jpg

and welded -
stp82622.jpg

till we couldn't weld no more -
stp82625.jpg

then we decided to consume copious amounts of "B Minus"
stp82629.jpg

and put dat dher winch up on dat dher bumper and say 'damn thats a good lookin winch mount'
stp82631.jpg

Saturday morning came, and my head was pounding till Saturday afternoon came... B Minus = not the best for me...

drew some more lines, bent some more toob, notched some, and put it on there...
stp82634.jpg

kinda, sorta matched the fender bar angle to the stinger bar angle -
stp82636.jpg

notched out the header panel to make space for the tube to go -
stp82638.jpg

bent up some 1.25x.188 DOM to protect the corners and headlight area (and used the thick wall so it wouldnt have to be replaced because of denting) - 3.5" radius matched it quite well -
stp82639.jpg

drilled some winch mount holes - (didnt get any pictures, but we sleeved the holes with some .625x.120 round tube to prevent the square toob from crushing) - drilled the holes out to 7/8" with the uni-bit, and bolted the winch up, tack welded, then removed the winch and went to town.
stp82640.jpg

mitered the 1.25x.188 and made it connect to the fender bar node for some strength -
stp82644.jpg

made the fender bar tie ins to the stinger -
stp82646.jpg

while I was taking care of a headache, Phil got some more welding wire -
stp82647.jpg

stp82648.jpg

stp82652.jpg

mostly done - ready for paint -

I'm sure this is the result, so everything is still right in the world. :D

Looks like a fun project!

Looks good, im about to make my front bumper and this one gave me some ideas!

Was there a reason why you just didn't cut out the front cross member all together and put the winch more recessed?

Have you seen my grill? It's chrome. You think I'm going to cut it?

You've never gotten trashed and welded on junk...or heard of the West Coast Gettin' It Crew, which I aspire to be a part of.
