Peanut allergy.

Back in 2003 when my daughter was 2 years old she was diagnosed with a peanut allergy, to those who know can be at worst case deadly. Peanuts are a hard item to avoid, if you have ever looked you notices how many products have peanuts in them in some form or another.I would give up my jeep or house if it meant that would go away.

Since she was able to talk she knew she had an allergy to peanuts and knew to ask if it was in anything that was offered to her. This is a sad thing for a young child to have to deal with, as well as adults.

Well today i found out my daughter had outgrown the allergy, witch i didn't know was possible. I am so happy i thought i would share with everyone, My Emily can now get back on track to haveing a normal childhood

Thanks for reading.

Awesome Man!! Let's break out the Jif I'll see if my Mom still has Raspberry Jam!! MMMMMMM... Comfort food! :) :wave1:

There's a guy at work that gets sick to his stomache just smelling Peanuts... I keep a lil ol Jar of "Bob Repellant" (Planters) at my desk just for those occasions when he's in a NASTY mood. Shuts him right up!! :roflmao:

That's great! I know how you feel with this news. My daughter's epilepsy first reared its ugly head when she was around four. The seizures got progressively worse over the years, to the point that I had to call 911 a couple of times due to their duration and intensity. Then we got the news that she'll likely outgrow this condition and sure enough she did. She's been seizure free for about two years now without the aid of medicine. Celebrate!

That's some good news this morning (seems to be a dearth of that these days.)

Got a family friend with a nut allergy. All he has to do is hold a cookie made with walnuts in his hand, and he can feel it working in his skin. A single bite will knock him right out.

And it's not just foods made with peanuts. If the allergy is severe enough, even food without nuts made in a facility that uses nuts in other foods can trigger a reaction.

Pretty much whereever you go anymore there's signs saying something about peanuts being on, in or near food. Can't avoid it really. That's cool that she grew out of it. I never knew it was possible to develop or "outgrow" allergies until 5 years ago when I found out I was allergic to bees. Never was before, but either way. Happy for you and her.

Thanks guys. I was so happy i wanted write more, but figured no one would read it if it was to long.:D

Tom R., Thats great news about your daughter.

Nothing makes you happyer than the happyness of your child.(sp?)

I would give up my jeep or house if it meant that would go away.

That is some crazy love there!

Congrats

My wife had a simalar thing happen,
She had a taken some antibiotic for somthing, and she was almost done with it, and she forgot it for a week and then ate some peanuts...
She broke out in hives and every time she got close to peanutes she would get a rash.
So we had to avoid all peanuts.... I couldn't even eat them cause she would get hives from my breath. I feel your pain.
Turns out that particular antibiotic was causing her to be alergic to peanuts, and if she had kept taking it she would have been permanantly alergic to them because it kills somthing or some jazz (the doc said it better)...
one time when my wifes absentmindedness paid off, we waited about three and a half weeks and the antibiotic left her system and she can eat peanuts now...

Its good too, even regular M+M's have peanut residue on them...

I think I outgrew my bee allergy. Was stung twice and barely had any swelling except there were more bees around then before I got stung.

Anyways, congrats, that is great news.

Good news! Buy any peanuts to celebrate?

Sweet. It is possible to "grow into" or "grow out of" allergies - it happens more often than you think. Figure your body is on a seven-year cycle for chemistry changes ("seven years is a lifetime,") meaning that there are intervals when your body chemistry can change significantly.

Here's an odd one for you - apparently, my GP, my EENT, and I are all agreed on one point - I have become allergic to California! I spend most of my days on some really heavy decongentants - but I don't need them when I cross the state line into Nevada or Arizona.

It's not just the Ghey Area - I get clogged up in the Central Valley and the Sierras as well. Go figure. Haven't "grown out" of it yet, and I plan on unassing CA anyhow in a few more years, so I'm not going to worry too much... Classify that one as a "nuisance allergy."

I've also developed "nuisance allergies" to fresh onions and fresh peppers - much to my annoyance! I especially enjoy hot peppers, but I can only eat them when they've been processed into hot sauce (probably the vinegar involved that settles them/me down, but I haven't figured it out yet...)

Of course, there's no predicting allergies - my mother is deathly allergic to penicillin and its derivatives, but I've spent more time using the penicillin family to fight infections than I'd care to admit to (no, not "social diseases...") without any ill effect, so that sort of blows "inheritance" out the window...

Anyhow, very glad to hear you don't have to deal with that anymore - as mentioned, keeping away from peanuts borders on impossible these days...

Part of her final test was to eat a spoonfull of peanut butter.

Now she wants more:D The white and pink frosted animal cookies have been somthing she always wanted to eat, but could never have(proccessed by same machines as peanuts). I bought her a big bag last night.

I sure as hell wish mine would go away. Everytime I go fishing I have to make sure I have my stupid Epi-pen w/ me. Just annoying.

Comments from the peanut gallery in a thread about a peanut allergy. Priceless.

I have that same issue, I am sort of used to it, but I always feel sick here. Even worse in SoCal. I am better once I am in the Sierras, but ya once out of CA I am completely fine.

Intruiging - have you had that since you came out here, or was its onset after your arrival?

I've talked with my GP about this at length, and we're actually starting to think it's a psychosomatic reaction to the I-D-ten-T sort around here. I've always had a low tolerance for incivility and incompetence anyhow (which seems to be around here in SPADES!) but it's only gotten worse since my little incident in November.

Of course, since California is heading rapidly downhill, it's easier to medicate me than it is to actually FIX the damn problem. Huh? My frustration is symptomatic of the direction the people, by and large, of this state are taking - shouldn't we do something to, say, fix education (to get rid of incompetence) and do away with this "false sense of entitlement" we're raising kids with (to get rid of incivility?) I'm certainly glad my kids didn't finish with that nonsense...

"Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world doesn't owe you anything, it was here first." Probably misquoted, but the sentiment is there. Since it comes from Samuel Clemens, this just shows how long this sort of thing has been going on... When I went to school, "self-esteem" wasn't at issue so much as learning - "The world expects you to accomplish something before you get to feel good about yourself" was the norm. What happened to that?

I agree the pure insanity that some of these people possess is unfathomable. It actually makes me want to sit inside and not go anywhere. People seem to think that they are high and mighty with no reason to feel such, other than the clothes that are hanging off and 3-4 sizes too big.

I just want to leave this state so bad. The weather is amazing, but the rest of it sucks, badly.

So when we going to Northern Arizona :roflmao:

But seriously I do consitently feel sick around here, I do better in the rural areas while the cities screw with me badly.

Nah - the weather blows as well. It gets too damn clear and too damn hot, and there's not enough precipitation (and people out here can't handle it when it DOES rain. Heaven forbid it should snow...)

My idea day - which I rarely get anywhere - is about 55*F with a light overcast, maybe a light drizzle. Anything above 60*F is just too damn hot, and below 40*F makes it difficult to do fine work anymore (my knuckles start getting stiff, and gloves get in the way.)

I didn't come out here by choice, and my still being here is a "temporary inconvenience." I've got to finish a couple degrees here, get a few things under control, then it's off to Flagstaff for another degree (MET at NAU.) Then, a little farther North to buy land and open for business...
