Overhead Console compatability

Will a 97+ overhead console fit in a 96 or older XJ?

You can get it to fit but none of the computer functions will work. Only the dome light, compass and temp (if you get the temp sensor and wiring) will work.
IMO, you be better off getting a pre97 overhead that will plug into you 96's computer system.
