Operation Overcompensation

This seems to be a reasonable way for me to chop my junk before I turn into a Fishboy or a Dave.

For god's sake why would you wnat to be like Hinkley?

CLARIFICATION

I think I want my rig similar to Hinkley's rig.

I don't even have a diff guard on the rear of mine.

Nothing 'more important' is in front of it since I run high steer.

Well, with the stick, if I'm pointed uphill, I sometimes get a "second shot" at some rocks while rolling backwards! :-) Actually, it was more for "peel" factor and getting rid of the rubber plug, etc....

As for more important, I was thinking that if you dropped hard enough to shear enough bolts off - you probably bent an axle tube or ball joints or something...

Bill,

I could see the 'shear' thing possibly happening but with grade 8 bolts, it'll be hard. I have 3/8" axle tubes, CTMs but stock front 44 ball joints, which are a small concern of mine. I need to carry spares :(

Damn I need a 9"/60 combo front axle!!!

I got this 100 amp relay today for my air compressor. The thing is huge and heavy. I weighed it (for Fishboy of course ;) ) and it weighs 15.3 oz. for a fawkin relay.

Got the dif cover on today. Went fine even though I had to modify my diff bridge plate to accomodate the 3/8" thick diff cover. I will rattle can it tomorrow. Looks different than your's Bill.

Had to take the winch off wich was a royal pain in the ass since the bolts were welded to the bumper (for security purposes) and then I had to disconnect the tranny lines and old power steering cooler (which I made a nice mess I must add). I installed this new large cooler for my power steering pump and moved the tranny cooler to the side to make room for it.

Hmmm... looks different...

Uh, yeah. Mine's an 8.25 and is painted faux-granite - sure it looks different!

I assumed you had a nice axle under there, not a 8.25. Sorry ;)

Not sure I like your tone about 8.25's...take it back!

:D

Evidently, while on the Rubicon, water got into one of my front hubs. After trailering it home, it has been parked so the bearing practically seized. So I had to rebuild it today with new bearings.

Then I fabbed up a bracket coming off of the power steering resevoir to hold a couple of crazy 100 amp relays. I am assuming I can lay them flat like this. One is for the air compressor and the other is for a ton of rock lights (a little overkill)

That is exactly why I made sure my new 'ass' weighs more than what it is pulling :D

I hope those door handles are stronger than the ones on my junk.... Maybe you should bolt some wheels on those ramps just in case.

:laugh2:

I know. I was yanking hard on them and they seemed to hold well.
That was Burrows old trailer. It has since 'disappeared' and is no longer with Ron.

I need to get my own trailer but I am seriously space limited right now.

So.........last weekend, I had a helper show up

Troy helped me out with a couple of welding projects. First we made the hydro assist protection. I am still not done with it but I will post it up in AdFab when it is completed (new fittings are coming and will be facing the back of the vehicle). (big pic)

And Troy also helped me with my air compressor which I STILL never got installed untill now.

And here it is finally in there. I think it has been sitting in my garage for 5 months now

Now it is all plumbed in and seems to function fine. I need a TINY resevoir of some sort so it doesn't have to turn on for a millisecond every time the ARB is activated. Any thoughts? I want something maybe a quart in size?

That's cool! How is it going to handle the heat from the exhaust manifold?

How does that compressor compare to the Oasis?
