One locker, front or rear first?

Here is a thread regarding NP242's and lockers:

I gotta agree with Ramsey, Don't put a dime in the Dana 35

Slush, snow, rain, ice, dry pavement, whatever, a lunchbox locker in the front axle will make full-time mode in the NP242 perform miserably. A lunchbox in the rear will make it a bit twitchy but, if the front is open, it will compensate a lot.

Thanks for the thread link - I'vd got some more reading to do!

Let me get this straight, you resurrected a thread that the last post was two weeks ago just so you could insult someone.....not very smart, but okay. You might want to get a fire suit.

Just out of curiosity, I had a stroked and blown Fox body that had 612 hp to the rear tires as a DD. What's your excuse for only 400 hp?

Edit: Okay so maybe there wasn't technically an insult there per se, but pretty risque with a black name to say the least.

Two weeks ago, wow, what an eternity. Just because its a few weeks old doesn't make the information any less valid. I got myself stuck in a situation yesterday where a locker would have kept me from getting stuck, so I figure I'd do some research. Then after talking to a friend, we discussed why people always freak out about having a rear locker in a Jeep.

Oh, congrats on your 600hp stang. Is there any reason why you came in this thread other than to say crap about me saying stuff? I'm not insulting anyone, just saying that everyone always condemns rear non-selectable lockers in any sort of rain or snow conditions because you don't get traction. If you've driven a rwd vehicle for a while, you should know how to handle it in adverse conditions. It's not like the jeep is so powerful that it spins the tires with every tap of the throttle.

As for my name, the fact that I haven't donated money means that I can't speak my mind on this forum? Get over yourself.

Mine does :looser:

And I can tell you as many have told me, a detroit or any auto locker for that matter will take some getting used to in the slick stuff. I guess that's sort of what you were trying to say while bloating about your shitstang. Good for you dude.
I drove a rear wheel drive bonnevile in high school,, does that count? It had a posi!
I think you'll find that a lifted jeep is a little different than anything else.

just dont buy a lockright they burn up and break pretty easy save your money and get a decent set of lockers such as ox locks or arb i currently am dealing with this problem right now because i chose to jump on throwing a locker in my 8.8 in the rear and now im paying for it because i chose lockright lockers there poorly built and honestly id rather go for a selectable front and selectable rear however most automaticlockers give you 100% locking traction which can be very helpful when pushing you threw and opstactle and pulling you up a steep incline

Obviously i'm a newbie, but I've driven many trucks with rear lockers and I could never go back to an open rear! It annoys the heck out of me when I take a corner with throttle and the inside just spins.

And as for snow and ice, Yes a locked rear will be different, but I personally like the ability to steer the truck with the throttle. Hundreds of thousands of people here in the north drive with some sort of traction device in the rear, and they all make it ; )
