Go to the Shortwheelbase BBS. It is by far the best short wheelbase forum on the net. I've got a '77 CJ-5 and those guys have helped me through everything you can imagine.

That's exactly what I'm going to be asking about. My son is looking at one for $800.00 in-line 6 and a rough body. They say it runs, I've yet to see that, but $800 seems very reasonable.

What year CJ? Early CJs (1955-1971) have some great info at http://earlycj5.com/

I haven't seen much support for the early AMC 1972-75 CJs though; that's what I used to drive but thoroughly enjoyed

76+ CJs? No idea where to find info online other than the link provided earlier. THose seem to be the more frequently-known and best-supported CJs around. Then again, that's understandable since '76 is when the CJ7 was intro'd and the line took off on sales...

My personal opinion would be to go to the Off-Road.com short wheel base forum. When I used to own a CJ-5 I used to post there. Lots of good guy's there that are very knowledgeable.
