Oem tire carrier

Selling my OEM tire carrier with the reinforced bumper, also has the interior backing plate for the body mount.

Only thing is that I will need your bumper in exchange.

Will it hold a 33" tire? if so...

I've heard read that they can but it is recommended to make reinforcements for the body behind the bumper and add washers to the hinges. I was gonna put my spare on it but just got done building a roof rack so the spare is going up top

Thats funny, I wanted it so I can my spare down off my roof-rack so I can fit in the parking garage at the hospital Nevermind though, I dont want to chance losing my spare on the freeway...I thought since you had 33's it would work but maybe its on another rig?

I was too quick to reply, for $160 and some install help I think its worth it. You never consider the labor when you do it yourself, and its at least a couple hour/case of beer install. I'm removing my 31 and installing longer studs and mounting a 33 later this week. best bang for your buck tire carrier

35 if you can get one at the pick and pull. i found a salvage yard with one that sells parts to body shops, and they wanted $150 for one that was missing half its parts.

160 for everything and install help is worth it. damn you for being 2 hours away.

Does anyone know (or seen) if this OEM will mount to an aftermkt bumper, like a Hanson's or Detour's? Seems like it would.....

I would imagine that you could affix the lower mount to a aftermarket bumper, but you would still have the upper body mount

homebrew - I'm sure it could be fab'd but I did a search and it seems the later model XJ's like mine had problems with the tailgate hitting the latch, so this may be too much trouble. I was thinking it would be less expensive to fab this to a "better" bumper later on, than to purchase the carrier with the new bumper. I was wishing someone had done it or seen it. Oh well.

I have it on my 98.

What a PITA to get on there. The bracket behind the lower hinge needed significant mods, the one behind the tail light had to b cut, the one behind the bumper, amazingly, didn't. I used the bumper from my Jeep, rather than the early one, and needed like a billion holes drilled and cut for the reinforcements. The carrier needed to be clearanced to clear the brow on the late model gate which houses the license plate light.

That said, once it is on there, the liftgate doesn't hit the latch or vice versa.
