Oem tire carrier

excellent thread homebrew. Its not just the money (oem vs aftermkt carrier) I like the way the OEM looks...simple, tube design, lower mount doesn't completely block rear window. Don't mind drilling holes in the quarter panel or losing the wiper, etc. But I would def. want to upgrade to a stronger bumper in the future. I will ponder.......

for those wondering. if you run the washer on the bolt head (i used some modified thick shock washers) the factory bumper will hold a 33" no problem. i had mine on there on the rubicon, all over big bear and los coyotes rez , moab and never had a problem with the stocker. the biggest issue is that the bushings can pull thru, that's why the washer is needed. that way the bracket can't slip over the bolt head. one time lion, on doran, didn't have the washers and his tire carrier fell off and he dragged it by the cable stop for a few feet! be advised that you will need to drill holes in the passener upper quarter panel for the upper mount and relocate the plate.............
