I was going to say brakes,(it almost looks like pads sit in this part) but I think its something under the 4500 truck. something to do with the case(s). spacer plate with/or giving the wrong gap????

Bingo. To get the calipers to line up correctly with the rotors and brackets, we had to machine .160" off each caliper bracket.
