Ok heres what i got and what im wanting to do. I have a MJ that im doing a complete drivetrain swap in. Im putting in ford Dana 60's a 4.3l sm465 or th350 and a np205. My question is can i use a ford np 205 with either of these trannys? I really want a driver drop 205. I have several chevy 205 laying around as well. Whats it gonna take to do what i want??? Thanks and yes i have searched....

Ashman I think is who you need to talk to. I believe there was a ford np465transmission that you would need the adapter from. I'm not familure with chevy outputs but you may have to do some swaping on 205 input or transmission outputs to get it to work. I just bolted a dodge 203 to my aw4. All it needed was to be drilled and tapped and a spacer made.

As far as I know there never was a Ford SM465 but I could be wrong. The simplest way of getting the ford 205 behind one of those would be to find one with a NP203 and use it as a doubler to a ford NP205. Jeds Machining has adapters like that. I used a GM 203 to Ford 205 in my setup.

Or you can get a 32/10/27 (what ever your tranny has) spline input gear for the 205, NorthWest Fabworks sells them. Then you would need to get a custom adapter build for the Tranny to T-case. But it would probably be more work and more money.

Ok there is a transmisson that is a ford version of this one IMSC. It was used in the 78-79 ford trucks and bronco's.

NP435 is probably what you're thinking of...

Pretty sure the Chevy and Ford NP205's used a different spline input, 31 vs. 32 or something like that.

Yeah the NP435 was used in Ford, Dodge and Chevy trucks and can be had in 23, 31, 28 and I think 27 or 10 spline outputs. The married ford NP205 is a 31 spline input and the Chevy is a 10/32 and I think 27. The 4x4 TH350 has a 27 spline output and the TH400 a 32 spline. The SM465 has either a 10 or 32 spline if I remember correctly.

A single 205 behind an auto wont be enough gearing.

4.3L-700R4-flipped d300 would be a good setup, very fast and light. Then you could later throw in a 4:1 in the 300 and upgrade the outputs.

5.7L-Th400-203(chevy)-205 ford is a good setup what I run. Very long and heavy but strong.

I wouldent do the Th350, or just use the 205, the 700r4 is a 4 speed and not much longer then the th350, for a single case Id use a d300.

If you want it short you could look into the dedenbear power glide case (2 speed auto) with your choice of doubler or 4:1 case behind it.

I love wheeling an auto. Its easy to tell when your bound up, then back off.
