i used to go to j & w before i ever found craigslist for scout parts. they rip you off so bad there. rediculous prices. they were often dicks to me to. whatever, their loss i stopped going their when i strarted frequenting picknpull, car-part.com and craigslist. well i wanted to swap out my steering box for a zj box and trying to pull a zj box at picknpull didnt sound like fun that day and i havent seen any wj's at picknpull in a long time and i wanted their brake booster and MC for my renix. long story short i called them and they said theyd give me the zj box for 50$ ( same price as picknpull) and the wj booster and mc for 100( told em thats what their carpart.com price was) it took a little talking and telling them id just as fine go to picknpull for those prices and pull it there. they originally wanted alot more for the MC and booster, and more for the zj box too. the dude who actually worked the yard was cool as hell, and the dude ron(or rob?) at the front desk was a pretty cool dude too, but the other two front desk guys where dick heads for sure. the younger one was an ass(drove some douche-bag lowered audi thing with gay ass sticker"live fast die fun" and wouldnt stop talking about his lowered rice rocket), and the older one was a dick too, but the dude ron (or rob?) was the one that gave me the good prices and was cool. just letting ya guys know, this is my only good experience at j and w in like 8 years and i usually bash them because their prices are retarded and over half the front counter staff are total dicks but this time it wasnt so bad. and they didnt charge for the xj pitman arm( i didnt want the zj arm) and they said they would. just thought id post. when i asked for a naxja discount they said "whats that" i said never mind. maybe if more naxja guys mention naxja they might start giving a naxja discount and better prices to us? i dunno. i still prefer picknpull...but its nice not to pull the stuff everytime...

I'd love to post something positive about J & W but I just can't. I totally agreee with you. EVERY time I've been there the service is awful and the prices are worse! I didn't realize their parts were gold plated, lol.

I once went there for a set of new seats for my 91 XJ, now keep in mind everything I looked at was out in the elements getting rained on, sun baked, you get the picture. Well I found a nice pair from a new WK and went up front to ask what they wanted. $450. Not bad I thought, I'll take em I said. Oh boy... he says, "That price is for each". WHAT? $900 for two seats that are sitting in the rain? He says, "plus tax".

I ended up getting two JK seats for $300 at the RE garage sale.

I can highly recommend Rancho Jeep however. Good guys willing to deal.

I call them once for a BA/10 tranny, 650 bucks. Used, came out of a running jeep but unknown condition...so I called a few more places and waited a few weeks. Sure enough I call back, 800 bucks. I said, well I called last month and the guy I spoke too said 650. What was his name? I couldn't remember, Well our price is only good for 30 days then we adjust them. If you don't know who you spoke too then thats the price, 800. Needless to say I got a rebuilt one for 1250 after tax with a one year warranty. I know 1250 bucks isn't pocket change but f*@k them. Im not going to get dicked around and play games over 150 bucks over some used part from some rude guys. I tried to give them one last chance a year or so later. I wanted a D44 so I called for a price, 900 dollars! Thats for a used D44 from a junk yard jeep with stock everything. I could... A: spend some extra cash and buy a legit one thats built or B: find my own and build it. I went to pick n pull and found a D44 for 159 bucks complete, they had 3 jeeps total with D44s to pick from. I understand your providing a service with parts in stock but come on. You can't be know it alls with high prices. You can only have so many first time customers before you need regulars to stay in business. Who would go there more then once anyways? I say they can go pound sand. Thats my 2 cents.

I know its off topic but this gets me angry. There was a "well known" performance shop in santa clara, where the old 4 wheel parts was, Apex Motor Sports. I went there and got 5 grand in just parts with no labor for Griggs Racing suspension parts for my GT Mustang. They never called me when UPS dropped them off. I had to contact them and keep asking, they never called when anything was finished or delivered. The place was a mess, cars would be there for 3 weeks for a clutch job. Nothing got done on time and the customer service SUCKED. Don't get me wrong though, the people were nice and good people but the business aspect sucked so bad. I stopped going there after I went in to buy a Kenne Bell supercharger and the first thing they guy said is that those suck why would you buy one, get a vortech. I wasn't even going to argue, not to mention compairing Vortechs and KB's are like compairing apples to oranges. I just walked out and they went out of business a year later. I could careless, serves them right. Later on they even opened up a "new" shop under a "new" name. They had all my customer info and called to invite me out to the opening of their new shop for a car show. I remembered the guys voice and just asked if he worked at Apex. I said a rude remark and hung up. They never called me again and I couldn't be happier. They can pound sand too.

yah this was a one time thing i think . xj 44's for 900$ seats for 450 each? i honestly cant imagine they are still open, they are in some lala land of pricing where they just make shit up. that is insane. ive seen a good amount of dana 44s at pnp and you can even find em on craigslist for 200-400$. seats shouldnt go for more than 80$ each in my mind...

Its a wrecking yard like any other. Go look at seat prices for a 06 Dodge Ram from the wrecker. Same deal different vehicles. Craigslist and PNP are going to be cheaper any day of the week, apples to oranges.

yeah my thing is how could they charge that much, its day light robbery. My thing is if im going to spend a certain amount then i'll just get it new for a few more bucks. But thats just me. Its like when I got xbox 360 3 or 4 years ago. Why save 50 bucks at game stop when I can have it new from the box with a 1 year warranty for just a little more. Im spending the 300 or 400 bucks on something so I might as well get it new. I guess some things are ok used though. but yeah....

I've dealt with them a few times.

I blew my tcu last year and they charged me something like 75 shipped. I saw one on ebay for 25 shipped on 5 months later. I had no choice, they were the only ones that had it at the time.

I also emailed to ask how much a complete manual swap would be for my 01, and they said 1500+tax. Yeah right.

Junk yards are criminal. The place near me got a 5 speed xj for FREE because of cash for clunkers. They wanted like... a thousand for a manual swap. Still not worth it. I've since dropped the idea of the swap, unless someone handed me the parts. They also charged me 65 for a headlight harness and blinkers, and they charged me 100 for a set of zj backing plates with calipers. F that.

I have seen the prices there fluctuate from day to day or whomever you talk to. I do not agree with this at all.

There prices on average parts are typically based on 50% of what the dealer charges for the part new. If it is $300 new then they will charge $150 for a used one, typically with a 90 day guarantee. If it is a high demand or rare part the prices do go up understandably. You dont have to like it, but thats business. I shop around before going there also. Some people need a part and need it now, that's gonna cost more $.

Let's try to be a little positive!

I've had nothing but good experience with Rancho Jeep. The guys are knowledgable and freindly, and the prices are "fair". I can easily recommend them. I've been going there for many years and will continue to do so. If I had to say anything it's they could improve on their selection. But hey that's limited by the size of the yard.

How DOES J & W stay in biz?

Yeah you guys are 100 percent right, business is business. Its the free market too so if they suck then they should fail and I have every right to not go there as well. Maybe they got bailed out!!!! haha Where is rancho jeep anyways?

rancho jeep is on south sunrise really close to the pnp.

You know, who cares if J & W sucks. There are some girls I just wont date for my own reasons but they find boy friends. That's kind of like J & W, there has to be SOMEONE who finds J & W attractive...RIGHT? With that being said who has gone wheeling lately?
