I get off work at 6:00 on friday in Walnut Creek (bout 1 hour north of San Jose) and was wondering if anyone was going to wheel in friday night or saturday morning...

i cant take the time off work (only work 2.5 days a week and that is one of my 12 hour days)

so, i could be at the trail head around 10:00pm (I think) if it is 1 hour from Farmer Matts (took me 3 hrs to get there and about 2.5 to get back - haulin ASS)

is anyone planning on coming out friday night and night wheeling in or going in early sat?

my rig is far from done, but i *should* be able to bring the newly aquired XJ on 31's with a LSD rear - provided it passes smog and they let me regester it.

If you have a bill of sale (or receipt) and proof of insurance you do not need a smog certificate (if you are willing to wait in line at the DMV twice). If you show up with all of the above and pay the registration fees they will give you a 60 day moving permit. Just tell them it isn't running or couldn't get it to pass smog.

I cant make it till friday night as well. I was thinking about leaving Fresno at 6:30. But If you think you you will get lost going up (kinda easy to do at night) I will wait. I am going to wind up doing Red in the dark as is. So it wont matter for me either way. Just requires beer at the end :laugh3:

Here are directions to Red Lake/Coyote Lake for any that have to come up Friday night......and can't hook up with someone who knows where to go. Head up Hwy 168 past Shaver Lake and stay on 168 going towards Huntington Lake. Crest the top of the long hill past Shaver Lake, go about two miles down the hill and make a right on forest service road 8S10, and I think there are signs for the various trails to various lakes down that road. Go for a couple of miles and then make a left on 8S42, again I think there are signs. A few miles down this road and you will come to a kiosk at the trailhead to both Red/Coyote Lake trail and Strawberry Lake trail. Take the Red/Coyote trail to the right and drive the trail to the lake.

It's been awhile since I drove to Red Lake in the daylight, it's usually after dark on Friday, so it's not too hard to find.

We'll leave a light on for you. :)

That is true...I just got the 60 day temp today. Just provide proof of insurance and pay your fees
Not sure if I am going or not. I live in Discovery Bay and work In Livermore off Vasco raod. If I go it has to be Friday night as well. But I can not Haull Ass in my junk. 60-65 tops.

Ron, Ill send you a PM. But If you think your going to be here then, you can just meet at my place and we can vanpool up. I am good for that.

Beer is good. Last thing I need is to be doing hard drinking when wheeling. I like SamAdams :pig:

After wheeling requires something with a higher alcohol content than Sammy carries... Not anything wrong with it mind you, but I tend to carry my nautical traditions with me for after trail abuse. I'll share, but be warned, it tends to run late, and test the stamina :D

Got your PM, all set, Thanks!
