I've been lurking on here for a bit now and figured it was time to post.
I'm getting back into the wheeling scene here in CO. after being gone for 6 years! Previously I had a stockish '86 toyota pickup on 31's locked front/rear. That was a fun truck! I've had a couple of stock XJ's and figured I'd try one for my next wheeling rig.
Here's my XJ, it's a '91, 4.0 AW4, D30/8.25, has about 135K miles on it.
It's on 32" BFG A/T's. It already had the lift and front bumper when I got it, any guesses as to how much lift it has on it by looking at the pics?
I'm thinking 4-4.5" since its running 32's with no trimming except where the front bumper goes. Also does anyone know if this front bumper is a mass produced unit? I've seen a lot of similar bumpers but this one is a bit different, with the brush/grill guard setup, I like the basic design of it. But I'm not crazy about the grill guard part, it looks kinda ghetto IMO.
In one of the pics the hood is open, it has some overheating issues only when wheeling, that was on Kelly Flatts. It also randomly stalls out. Which made for an interesting time going up heart attack hill.
Hopefully soon I can find some time to work on it. Currently it needs:
a new battery, the 32's are a bit worn (I'm debating on which tires to get 31's, 32's or just get 33's, I'd like 33's but 32's on stock gears already sucks!) ZJ clutch fan and hood vents. Also I've gotta figure out why its stalling, though it may be related to it running hot, other idea's are possibly fuel pump (I've replaced the filter) but doesn't add up because it only does it on the trail, it's fine everywhere else. Has anyone had any work done by SFF customs in Denver? I'd like to re-gear for 33's anyway and since that will likely run about $800ish for parts/labor their $1200 price tag for a fully installed and re-geared F/R 8.8 swap seems pretty reasonable. I'm not real concerned about the 8.25 I have now, but the rear disks would be nice. I'm in Greeley, anyone else on here from around this area? Don;t know of any people to go wheeling with anymore and don't like tackling big stuff when I'm running solo. On to the pics!
