Noob xj wanted and Hi

I hate saying this, but use the search.

There is more information in the tech section than anywhere else on the planet.

You've heard from a few members our opinions, which we've got these opinions from experience.

Your initial idea of what you want and how you want to achieve it don't equal out.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but these are simple facts. You came here for advice, and we're giving it.

Dan

Thanks Dan and Sam as well as everyone else. When I see the 35s I'm like a kid in a candy store. But I'll wise up and do my searching well before I buy.

And a hitch.

thats prolly a 3" lift

here is mine 3" and 33's

If I remember right, they are one inch risers to let the heat get out better. I know it gets really warm under there when it is really hot out. I am thinking about doing it myself.

It's growing on me now, yours looks nice. Also nice Dakota in the back.
Also why does everyone do that to their hoods. I've Noticed that it looks like a small cowl

Dakota is the neighbors mine was way cooler lol.

popping up your hood improves fuel mileage, gave me 10 extra MPG..... true story.

eye candy

Really going two inchs more is going to hurt it that much more. No pun intended.

yes.

trust me, 35's gte's you into blingy axle territory. You need gears, and if you're doing gears you'll want lockers, then you'll need beefy axle shafts, the list goes on and on.

Here's my wife's DD with 245/75R16s on what amounts to 2" of lift over stock.

It cruises 70+ down the highway just like it left the factory, get's 18 MPG at freeway speed and still wheels Harlan just fine. I had forgoten what a streetable jeep feels like.

If you do 35's you'll be tempted to go play in big jeep land. Big jeep land and DD do not mix.

Im starting to realize that 35s might be a bad idea until I have some major cash. That jeep is nice too. But I want something with a a wide stance. I have had pizza cutter tires before when my truck was lifted. I like when they poke out the sides. Maybe 33s with 4" backspacing and a 3-3.5" lift with trimmed fenders.

That's more realistic.

Once you hit the 4" mark things go to hell.

You can get by with stock steering(cheap ZJ upgrade)/trackbar stuff @ 3". 4" maxes it out, then you're into steering/trackbar and control arms/dropbrackets land.

The wife's has WJ control arms, so no tire rub with factory wheels.

I prefer skinny jeeps, let's you pick the best line vs being forced by your width to take a bad one, but that's personal preference.
