Non XJ: 1994 Suburban

will it pass smog? how are the tires? how old are the brakes? V8 meaning 350CI ? looks to be 2x4, is the trans a 700r4? a friend of mine is looking for something cheap to tow a double watercraft trailer every once in a while. she needs something reliable that doesnt need much. is it in good working order other than what was specified?

The sub runs great, passed smog last year without problems, All tires are great, more that 50% all the way around. Yes 350 v8 2x4 700r4. The front brakes are new with new abs sensors, rotors, bearings (the good stuff not the china junk). the rear brakes are ok. I would suggest to anyone interested to test drive it. inspect it (I did my best to remember all the suburbans issues, but a different set of eyes/ears is always better).

if it's anything like my van, it probably gets better mpg than my jeep lol

My thoughts too. we have a 90 chevy 1500 stepside that gets better MPG than the jeep does. though the sub probably weights more, i am betting the MPG isnt too bad.

With the OD trans and slightly larger tires, the mileage is not too bad.

Oh that reminds me at 70mph there is a rear tire vibration, been there a while, the shop cannot balance the vibration out.

My dad had one and got around 21 mpg. I know someone else with one and they claim around the same. Both are 4x4.

the vortec ones will be better than the early ones. i dont know if the 94's are vortec, but im pretty sure they're throttle body injected. either way, my van still gets better mileage towing the jeep than driving the jeep. seems to be 12-15mpg no matter what. i'd expect a suburban to get slightly better than my van (my dad regularly got 17mpg in his 95 chevy 1500 extended cab).
