Fuel injected, 249cc, 4 valve DOHC, electric start, wired for street use (brake light, brake light switch, signal indicators, horn, headlight w/ hi/low), disc brakes front and rear, 18"/21" tire size. I have a Flatland skid plate on it. DCS EDGE light kit(all LED) with turn signals and the rear lit license plate bracket. Acerbis Cyclops headlight, Grave's AIS Removal kit, Air Flapper mod, Easton 1 1/8" bars(significantly less vibrations in the bars)... The bike has 12 hours and 5 minutes on it.

VIN is Clean(ran it before I got it, dude seemed shady), has no title. I don't know if it was sold to the original owner as a dirt bike or what. I was going to get it titled but the guy I got it from in the Springs was supposed to mail me a notarized bill of sale and he never did(go figure, thanks craigslist.) I've had it less than a year and just never got around to it. I was going to do it this season but I just don't know if I wanna get on the road with a motorcycle ever again after what happened to my buddy a few weeks back. Colorado drivers are insane.

I'm open to offers, you all know all the wonderful things I'd like to do to my Jeep. I figure it'd be easier to work with someone on here if they wanted it than someone from craigslist again. It's listed on craigs currently here;

It blue books @ 3600, I've got it listed for 3200... I've got 600-700 bucks in it probly.

The bikes are fairly uncommon and highly sought after because of their reliability and 26,000 mile valvetrain service intervals.

If anyone's interested hit me up.

Thanks guys. :cheers:

It's a pretty simple deal actually if you look into it.

and like I said; It's entirely likely that the original owner purchased it as a dirt bike(never titled) because the owner before me supplied the bill of sale to him, and he didn't have the title either. That's why I called jefferson county and had them run the VIN to make sure it wasn't stolen. You just have to apply for a new title.. and if I'm not mistaken all we would have to do once I sell it is have the bill of sale notarized to get a title (and all the requirements, DOT approved tires, blinkers, brake light/running light, horn, mirrors, head light with hi/low see state patrol about an inspection)

So no. There's no title for this "dual sport" bike. You're correct. The dude that had it before me bought it to use as a dirt bike and took off all the lights and cut the wires for the blinkers and stuff. He wasn't interested in using it as an enduro apparently. I wired it all back up with the intent of dual sporting and commuting it but I think I'm just going to stick to the dirt. I'm not a fan of pavement and 4000 pound hunks of steel driving around @ 65 miles an hour.

I hope this clears up anything you may have been insinuating.

Wasnt insinuating. Was seeking clarification for if it was going to be a "street" bike as compared to a "dirt" bike as the bike is capable of both. Know someone looking for a streetable ride. But that would mean the title, so this wont work for him.

No title is required to sell it. It's not currently titled. Just a bill of sale, which you can have notarized at a bank, which along with a CSP inspection. You're good for a title if I'm clear. Otherwise I think you have to run an ad in a newspaper or something? The process really isn't bad. If it's that big of a deal I'll do it myself and re-list it. I'm hoping Troy might shed some light on this if he happens to see this today. I'm sure I could google it too. It's not currently registered or plated or anything. It's an off highway vehicle currently as far as the state is concerned. The process would be exactly the same if you took any enduro bike and made it street legal. You have to go get yourself a title.

unless it came from a dealership, then I think dealerships do have to title everything they sell if I remember from working at Grand Prix Motorsports correctly.

I'm also going to point out this hasn't seemed to hinder a half dozen people from responding to the ad. Seems like a guy is interested in coming down from Silverthorne tomorrow to pick it up and pay cash.

After a little research I have found that if the bike has never been titled before and you have an MSO from a dealer or a bill of sale from a private seller then on the bill of sale it needs to read "Sold as off road" you go to a dealership, get the VIN verified, and bam, they print you a title on the spot.

How would I even find out if the very original purchaser had it titled I wonder??

This will probly help;

ya he works 70+ hours a week so no free time to do the running around.
the process isn't big deal. Just takes time and patience.

I wasn't expecting leg work from him I just figured he'd probly know some of the legalities regarding these things... Why the hell did you think I wanted him to look into it for me? He'll be on the forum at some point I'd imagine, no? There's 168 hours in a week, I can only assume he'll be around for a few minutes here and there. I'm also going to point out my old man used to work 120+ hours a week and still found free time. lmk.

I can't imagine it taking much longer than a few weeks for the entire process start to finish with the stunning efficiency of our DMV's. Go to dealership, verify VIN. Go to DMV, fill out form. Get inspection. Get plates. Go ride with no fear of the roads between trails.

I was referring to my buyer. Not troy.
workin 12's, mon-sat doesn't leave time for DMV, dealerships, or the like.
Don't get pissy.

I'm not getting "pissy" we're just communicating like men... Unclearly.

If he's interested and can get into contact with me I have no problem buttoning up the rig completely and applying for a title myself while holding the bike until I have the title and he's got the payment. I'd do that with no questions asked for a NAXJA guy. I don't really need the money, I'd much rather have a trade for something else.

My old man works for the city and my mom works for the state. Both of them are government employees. I'm sure that may have some leverage as far as the length of the process is concerned. I also used to work at a motorcycle dealership that will do the VIN for me probably free of charge. Or maybe I can buy the title clerk or sales manager a six pack.

I promise, I really try not to get pissy. It just feels as if sometimes anything I do here gets instant scrutiny because I'm a noob or something. I'm not exactly sure how to prove my metal on the internet, nor defend myself properly. I need to get to some meet and greets so ya'll don't think of me so harshly (or so it seems) but I have a big mouth and I'm argumentative so I don't exactly make friends easily :cheers: :wave:

Ugh, if that was the WR250F or X I would have been beating down your door.

I need to get my cafe racer project finished and sold so I can get a dirt bike. I would love a WR250.

You know I think the only difference between the X and the R is the wheel size and some blacked out parts. I'm not sure if it has a more oversized front rotor or not.

The WRF is a completely different monster.

Brain fart, not sure what I was thinking.

Care to trade for a bag of parts that might resemble a '79 Suzuki 750?

Yeah but AOL chat rooms didn't plague the planet until 96 or so.

That's when people started learning the attitude of the interweb.
