no MTR's in the west stf

Glenn, you probably have a bit more mud to deal with in the PNW than Utah's slickrock, or the rocks in the Southwest. Under those circumstances, I'd probably agree with you that MT/Rs aren't the best tires.

But on the pure rocks, well......

If they work for you and your krew, great. I will never, ever run them. I have spend more time on the trails around here waiting, waiting, and waiting.... and rigs strapped to each other.. high lift jacks etc.. fixing tires that came off the bead. No thanks, just not my idea of fun. The tread pattern may look cute.... but they just do not stack up to real tires. But that gets back to my "low bidder" thing. Uncle Sam does not buy them because they are good... he buys em cause they are cheap(est). :) Maybe I am jaded... but I just think they are junk. But if you like em, and they work for you...... good enough. :D

Who hacked Glenn's account?

No, not really mud related.... mostly sidewall stuff.... particulary being able to keep the bead seated and the air inside and all that good stuff. I have been to Moab more that a few times... and grew up in SoCal and ran trails there. Those tires just do nothing for me. :)

Hahaha. Funny Phil. :) Just cause you finally get out to wheel does not mean that those of us that have been doing this for years cannot pipe up from time to time. :D My account was not hacked... I am speaking from my personal experience on the trail..... and one of these days will be able to hit the trails again.... but for now, it is not an option. And since this is Non-Tech.... I enjoy poking at those that swear by a tire I would rather swear at. :) I have nothing to prove.... nor will I ever buy goodyear tires. .) I don't care how cute they make the tread pattern.

I've been doing it for years as well. ;) Just poking at your seclusion is all.

What bad experiences have you had with Goodyear in the military that I haven't had? :D:D:D I like the MT/r, but certainly not the old MT. Trust me, it took a LOT of convincing for me to buy the MT/r. Personal experience with it now has me convinced more and more each time I wheel. Need some harder stuff now for the long term test though...

Don't you have some Harbor Freight sales stuff to do tonight? :D

MT/R was not released when I was in the military.... but we had a variety of tire manufacturers. Pirelli and BFG, as well as Michellin did the best. Goodyear was most common.... but (as I have said before) due to being the cheapest stuff available.

I will stick by BFG for my M/T needs.... or biased ply if I ever get really serious and need some noisy tires. :)

Yeah, with new F&R axles & 5 almost new 315's + 1 free 37, it seemed like the right time.

I was about to go to 315's. Now I guess the 4 new 37's I was saving for the buggy are going to get a workout.

Better send the front shafts to the cryo tank.....

My pee treated axles are still holding up fine. Send them my way and I'll treat them for free.

Hmmmm, I guess it's not just the MTR's. I was in Discount tire this morning to check up on some Toyo's, 33-13.5-15 MT. Mine are part of the 200 on backorder that the regional Toyo warehouse is waiting on. Toyo's expecting them in 3 - 4 weeks.

Oh well. :dunno:
