New Years run

Made it out to the snow run yesterday. I met Phil, XJranger, and a new member Slonopotam in Rancho Cordoba to head up the hill. We didn't make it to Strawberry because Highway 50 was closed for some unkown reason and we never made it that far. We wound up turning around and heading to Loon Lake with hopes of making it all the way to Gatekeeper. On the way up Icehouse road, Phil had a problem with his rear pinion yoke. The locator tab somehow broke off and spit out the u-joint cap. We tried to fix it, amid the falling snow, rain, and heavy wind, but we weren't able to remove the yoke no matter how hard we tried. Phil wound up pulling his rear driveshaft and later drove home in FWD mode. Since Phil was about to go into hypothermia, he was soaking wet from the drive up, we got him some dry clothes to wear and decided to leave his junk a little ways down the road. We had to wait a little while for a group of asshats to get out of our way close to the Loon staging area, but we made it almost all the way too Gatekeeper. With about a foot of snow covering the area it was very hard to navigate and we didn't want to stray too far off the trail so we decided to stop and hang out for a while. I had a great time and it was nice to meet some new people. Here are a few of my pics.

The bridge next to Icehouse resort was flooded.

XJranger towing one of the asshats out of our way. The club had 7-8 rigs and nobody would help get guy out of our way.

I got stuck trying to pass them.

Overall a good day in the snow despite the weather.

Bryan saved this run from being all-around bad!

I would have been ok if my junk hadn't broken and I didn't have to lay on the ground and try to fix it. :shiver:

The American River up past Ice House road was crazy!

The "Rock Outlaw" group doesn't appear to know much about snow wheeling...or towing. :gee:

Next time, we'll hit snow before 1:00, my junk won't break, and I won't be soaked and freezing. :sunshine:

Sorry I didnt make it guys, wound up heading to pismo. Still here actually, its a wonderful 3 day weekend for me. Looks like alot of fun though! I took a picture for you guys of me on the beach for you

Hi,

Here are pictures taken mostly by my wife and some comments of mine.

While sitting down on 50 I managed to get some pictures of the stream nearby.

I couldn't help but notice that Phil does not mind getting all wet and shaky,
but cares a lot about his seat. Rain lines are nice.

Some people really shine at creating traffic jams.

Going uphill with a bold all-season tires would be much more fun if I hadn't put the chains on the rear tires. Here is a link to the video.

Here we are lining up for the photosession.

For some reason I want to bring T80 next time.

That's all I got that day.

What is it you do not like about rocking, or is it that you like winching more ?
