I got this for FREE!!! YES, FREE My younger Brother in law traded this for my MRC Ironman R/C race truck......(The Ironman needs Batteries, plus I have no time to play with it, so I consider this a fair trade)

Add a little bass to it.....

I will build it to be removable, so all the connections will be plug'n'play.

One is a Pioneer, the other a Sony Xplod, soon to be both Xplod's....

The subs themselves are only rated at 400W max, so it's not a ground pounder, but it do what I want, which is bass enhancement.....(I am a bit of an audiophile)

Just a little sinopsis of my 87 Prelude.....(NOT what I am going to do in the Cherokee)

1987 Honda Prelude

Sony cd head unit
2 12" Pioneers in bandpass box, total of 1500W
2 6X9 Sony three ways in the deck to use as mid's and Highs (using cross over from sub box amp.)
2 6" Sony two ways in the doors, total 300W (amp under driver seat)

Let me tell you, in a small coupe, this was f'n LOUD!!! LOTS of Bass. Now that I have kids and ruined ear drums, I am going low key....Now I just want my music to sound good......

Don't put too much amperage too it or you will be fixing your jeep for a different reason.

Perhaps you missed the part where they will be in his prelude... not Jeep....

Nope, this will be in the Jeep, I haven't had the Prelude in serveral years....(doesn't fit the kids in...)

They are failry low wattage, so no big thumps, but nice clean bass.....

I was considering driving them with the head unit, but decided against it (they really should be amplfied for best effect.....)

The synposis is what was IN the Prelude.....( I do miss that set-up though.....)

Like I said, they will both be Xplods here soon....

Even mismatched it should sound ok.....

It's not wired up yet, I still need to go and get an amp and the wires....

I did have it hooked up to the house stereo and it sounded okay.....

Nice deal, but I have to ask, do you get a deal on Xplods or something? In my opinion, Sony car audio is poop, so I'd be working on getting another Pioneer rather than the Xplod...

Just my 2 cents...

:dunno:

So you got it for free, but you had to trade for it?

Free meaning no money exchanged, technically, there was payment, but not of monitary value.....

In reality I will get more use out of the box than I would out of the RC car.....

I know here a used Xplod is here locally that the guy is willing to sell for cheap. It helps that he is upgrading, otherwise I wouldn't be so lucky.....

Also the Pioneer has a nice fat crack in the plastic (superglue may fix it, if it does, than I might go Pioneer instead).....

The other thing is, I am building this to be fully removable for trail rides, that way I have room for trail gear.....

The battery power connection will be similar to the connectors on the ends of the cable:

Though I could just use the cables themselves, seeming as they connect directly to the battery and are super heavy duty.....( I of course would put the apropriate ring terminals on the clamp end of the cable)

The Head unit connections will be a couple of these:

What do you think of the connector idea, quick to dis/re-connect and heavy duty.

Plus the amp will be attached to the top of the box, so it comes out with it......

you guys got that on the money..... whats up to my fellow tokers???

im in the same boat right now. Just moved from cali where i had my medical license. Was in a bad car accident and got messed up. im alright now. But i just moved to oregon and need a job so been clean for a month. lol only a month..

glad your alright...yea ive seen on the news that kids in high school can get the meical license and burn in class...puts a whole new meaning to high school...there is no telling when i will be able again...!!

I've only heard bad things about sony products but never really heard or seen them in action. I'd go look for some deals on Pioneer equipment because it's cheap and they make a good product.

I had the box out and in the was playing with it again......

They both hit the same, but I can see the crack in the Pioneer cone getting bigger with each successive hit, so I defianetly need to switch it out.....

BTW, I have run Sony products for many years and have not had many issues....

In fact, my house stereo is a Sony.......

I was working on the Jeep some more this morning....

After our picnic on the beach, I decided that a shelf of some kind would be nice for food prep/working on crap/covering a sub box......

It still needs to be covered in carpet, but not bad for something that cost nothing but time. Just some scraps from a remodel project....

In case you are wondering why the support brace is behind the legs instead of in front, the space is for my recovery strap (I will hang the hooks sometime this week or next). That way it stays out and convenient for when I need to pull someone off the beach.....
