new stereo need help

well im redoing my system.. or lack there of

im thinking
alpine headunit. ipod cable and box
kick panel speaker pods with 6.5 componet set. nothing in the doors ( will be running half doors.)
and a custom box for a single 12 in the back.

i have an idea for the sub so you can wait and see.
but for the kick panels i want some durable speakers.. i was thinking marine but there an arm and leg and i dont think they make componet sets?

You must have never heard of Polk Audio. I swear by Polk and have put them in my last three cars. Best of all, most if not all of their speakers, including the component models are marine certified. Look no further...

I would agree with 92west polk makes nice stuff, so does kicker. my ten is an l7 and it moves a lot of air!

Search for any post I've made concerning speakers and that's what I suggest. I run Polk in my rig for both the sound quality and the durability of the unit. I've also installed Polk speakers and subs in a Subaru Impreza show car that I was doing a custom interior for. That set-up was designed to play loud, but still sound good. The Polks handled the additional power and sound great.

For head units, Alpine makes some good ones, but I usually stick with Pioneer. Pioneer's better units can keep up with the Alpines, but with a smaller price tag. The Pioneer's also have higher RMS rating. As long as you don't go for any of the cheap ones I doubt that either companies products would disappoint you.

I'd make sure it has bluetooth, I have the jensen BT unit in the XJ and am picking up one of these for the TJ...

As for speakers, I'm tone deaf and can't carry a tune in a bucket but I did replace the stock speakers with Pioneers, big improvment in both the XJ and TJ with it's stock radio.
I'm also hinting for my birthday for a Tuffy full console for the TJ with sub so we'll see what happens with that.
I also happen to like Pioneer, been using their stuff for years, only got the jensen because it was the ONLY bluetooth head unit out there and I use my cell phone alot...

well thanks for the help. im completly redoing my interior, storage box, 2nd row buckets with center console with a sub maybe, and stereo/ alarm. and some other little things.. just trying to figure it all out before i get into it....
any one have an alarm? looking for something with motion sensors probably. im completly useless when it comes to this.

yea, go with the 791VX Viper alarm from Directed Electronics. You will have to additionally purchase the motion sensors but the kit as a whole is really awesome. up to 1/4 mile responder remote to let you know that someone is f'in with your vehicle. Remote Start is optional. Call Wallace at 760-597-6704 and he'll hook you up. He works there.
