new rig (Black Betty)

$200 for a new or possibly reman durango box, f that. I might as well call PSC as long as i can get it this week. Question is do i go big bore or standard trail use? I was leaning towards the standard street and trail if i go this route

get the big bore & tapped for hydro assist. you will be glad in the long run.

oh yeah, you will think $200 is pocket change when you see what PSC gets for their boxes, but they are worth it!

I am going this route. I was not mad at the $200 just didn't want to spend that cash just to replace it in a year or 2.

Going with a big bore psc box and will add the cylinder later. I already have the pump

putting in work.
it'll be nice to have that front end all dialed in...

Just finished up new ball joints, hubs and shafts.

Still need to install steering box, gas skid drive shaft u joint and fix lower front shock mount.

Bilstein sent the oil but no valve stacks... need to call them.

Now off to work!

Well that was an insane effort to "finish" the the rig for sierra fest. I havent touched it since i got back. I do have a PSC hydro assist kit now so i need to figure out how to mount the ram. At first glance my two possibe options with my setup are below the tie rod, not great for the rock but could build a skid, or behind the tie rod and under the pan hard.

Are there any benefits to running the ram over, under or behind the tie rod? Beside the obvious clearance issues, talking more in the since of clean steering angles.

Thanks

You really only have one option there...as in below is not an option.

That's how I feel. Just didn't know if putting it behind the tie rid would cause roll. If it even fits.

If I tried to put it up top it would be right where the pan hard bolts to the axle mount.... It would also be high on the mount and it seems like it would be a lot of leverage on it. Maybe not even a big deal just not sure

Mine is below.

I just pray. Actually, I don't do that either. I just drink beer and forget about it.

Its not ideal, but I do have high steer and 40s so its a ways up there.

OK time to pull the jeep back in the garage from SierraFest and get a few thing done.

I ordered offset TREs to push the tierod away from the axle. It currently only has a 3/4" gap, no wonder my turning radius sucked....

I will get the psc hydro assist kit in at this time a hope to squeeze it between the pan hard and tierod.

I also plan to rebuild the rear shocks and install them sometime before spring.

Get er done.

I just built a new tie rod last night and installed a new PSC ram, and some bump stop prothane inserts. it went fast. I am still waiting on my 360/100 shock rebuild kits.

Swaped out the leaves for the BDS leaves I won at SierraFest, very nice. Swapped in the PSC box but have not hooked up or mounted the ram.

The j20 box had more power but I'm sure the PSC setup will be sweet with the ram on.

Jeep threw a code and drove like crap on the way home. My son was playing in the jeep while we were working on the steering box and all the wiring to the steering wheel broke....
