Well hello there. I am now a proud owner of a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport, yeah! I have been checking out these boards for a while and you all have some amazing jeeps. But anyways, here's mine "Truck Norris." Hopefully it doesnt stay stock for too long. Just took this picture today after spending at least 6 hours cleaning it from head to toe. I should have taken a before...

Also, I was just wondering... I was cleaning the inside and down on the drivers side by the pedals, where the kick panel ends... I have two switches, one is a toggle switch the other is a little black push button. I was wondering if anyone else had these? I'm not sure what they do or what purpose that they serve.

Hmm...maybe, I should dig around and see where they go. I did not receive a keyfob for remote start/alarm, but now that I think about it, that does kinda seem what it is. Maybe they took it out, and maybe thats why my cruise doesnt work either(I dont know if that could have anything to do with it, just wondering more if its possible)?

thats a typical location for the override / valet switches ..
since you dont have a remote key fob , i would remove it ( if they left it in there )
before it leaves you stranded somewhere with a no start / blaring siren .
or if you want to keep it , see if previous owner has the remotes .

Welcome to the boards! That's a great looking rig you have there. It's a beauty. I personally would reccomend a 2"bb and some 30s or a 3" and some 31s. Nice and clean.

Let me ask you... Want to become a member?

Very nice XJ! Now that it is all clean up you need to find some dirt! :)

I would definitely trace out the switches, like was mentioned you don't want some half uninstalled alarm to leave you stranded.

And of course the required....You should become a member of NAXJA and support the club that will be supporting you!

Welcome to the NAXJA forums! There are a bunch of us in upstate NY; whereabouts are you?

As for the switches, maybe one is a fuel-line cutoff switch (theft deterrant). Flip the switch with the engine off and see if the Jeep starts.

Thank you all for the great comments, and ease of mind for the switches, I'll be tackling them this weekend. I still wish they were for the "backseat driver" ejector seat. Also, I've tried to become a member, but some of the required fields with the drop down menu show nothing for choices???

man that thing is cleaner than mine! Nice Jeep!
Trust me, the only reason it looks so good (I mean personally I like dirty better, the ladies on the other hand...) is I clay-barred the crap out of it. Also, I swear by the new Meguiars Next-Gen Tech Wax, thats what really made it look so great (worked wonders on the good "old" red vw I had, well before the telephone pole anway. Hence, the XJ and pins in my legs and plates in my jaw). Trust me, if you are looking for great wax, buy it now! Also, I use 303 aerospace protectant on all the plastics/vinyl/rubber/etc..., I've been using it since I first discovered it, best stuff in the world, plus it keeps them from fading and gives it all UV protection. For baked on bugs and tar I use peanut butter... Works better than anything on the market.

Can it kick you ass with a rounhouse to the head, then stab you slowly before you blink like Chuck Norris can?
Lol, beer burns coming out my nose... Its actually a very odd story how the name came about, but oh well, when you're bored in the woods with a badarse jeep, ya cant help but get a little crazy.

Once again, thanks for all the great comments, I cant wait to learn from all of you... One of these days, Truck is gonna have a little more boost.
