new here

Welcome. Nice start to the XJ habit. I did the abs delete on my '91 (same pos system). I got the brake pedal to master cylinder off a '95 and did the tear-out/install in a weekend and the power of the dual diaphram booster is way above the crappy abs stuff. I actually have the power to stop 35's with 3.8 low range and 4.88's. (4 wheel discs help too) I live fairly close to you too in the Pittsburg ghetto area.

Will a grand charokee master/booster work?

I think I've heard of people using grand cherokee booster/master but I don't know for sure what required. But a search in the "mod tech" forum will probably give you more info on that.

I'm still using my stock proportioning valve from the abs system which seems to work just fine. I tried to plumb a grands disc/disc valve into my brakes and it didn't work at all. It just blew fluid out the rubber cap at the front of the valve. I still have if you want it tho.

In the tec forum i asked if i could use the abs valve and some daid absolutly not... Well there are only 3 lines going in mine, 2 up top one below, know any good junkyards lol

I just got lucky and found a guy parting out a 95 that was in good shape up front. So I snagged the pedal assembly and the booster/ master, and now that I think of it, I think I did get the valve from that 95 too and plugged my lines into it.

As far as junk yards that are local? Not much that is cheap like a pick-n-pull. Most of them around here seem to want almost new parts prices for thier old stuff. There is a pick-n-pull in Fairfield and more further away like Oakland or Sac. There are some guys here in Sierra chapter that go pick thru the yards fairly often so they'd know more than me on that score.

I know the Place Down the street from me has a 1990 but there rude, i went in there and they treated me like i was some kinda tweaker who was gonna jack shit, one guy. Hecked on me three times, told me not to take anything off without asking, then the guy up front searched my toolbox, he wanted 60$ for a master and booster ,

I've run into that same sorta attitude before too. One guy, when I asked why his prices were so high, he said I was paying for the privledge of entering his yard. I said no I'm not and walked out.

Fairfield has a huge pick n pull. I've had great luck there and they often have late models. Every time I go there they have at least ten fully stocked xjs and five that have been picked off. Prices are pretty decent. You can see the prices on there web site and see what they have in stock as well.
