My brother Ryan's been working on the new light bar. Chalked full of HID's from Light Force!

What's the blue light for?
race rule book requirement. Designates the slower classes(:D), so when a 1200 HP dune buggy comes womping up your ass at 2AM, he knows you're not doing 110mph just because the road's semi-flat.

Haha, those lights are a bit overkill for the back aren't they?
Um,.. that would be a "No, not overkill",...
'VtoR last year we got within about 2 car lengths of a VW in heavy silt and couldn't see his rear lights.

BITD Rulebook minimum is 50w if I remember right.

Gotcha. I remember when the amber light was instituted (late 80's/early 90's) didn't know the new rule with the blue light. Do chase vehicles have to run them (blue light) also?

Best in the desert dosn't allow chase vehicles on the course. You break on the course, and you have to limp to the nearest pit or you're out of the race.

So is it only a BITD rule?

Yes, BITD is the only one that requires the Blue light.

BITD are all no chase races with designated pits. You can only receive help by a registered racer when on course.

They only require that chase trucks have the race number on the front windshield, but it's not well inforced. That way,if your a Jack-A$$ they know who's team you belong to and will penalize the DOR if need be.
