Trying to replace the drivers rear door window on my XJ after some douche broke it out.
Anyone have any tips for getting the replacement window into the door???
Thus far I've used some soapy water to maybe get it to slip in but no dice.
Is there a piece of trim I can remove around the window opening to get this thing to go in?

I dunno if it is correct, but i unbolted the trim piece between the large glass and smaller glass, allowing me to push it over as much as possible.

What year XJ? Is this the roll down window or the fixed little window?

you might be able to just pull the rubber weatherstrip that runs across the the top up the door and down the run channels that the glass runs up and down in, slide the glass in, then slide the weatherstrip back in using lots of soap and water...if the glass still wont fit with just the weatherstrip out (good chance it wont) then just pull the little bolt in run channel that divides the stationary and moveable glass.

I've never been able to replace the main glass with out removing the fixed window. On a '91, the fixed window has a rivet that holds the felt track /window guide to the outside of the door sheet metal.....under the outside window trim. That has to be drilled out to remove the fixed glass. Once that rivet is out, ya gotta remove the screw at the top of the door that secures the top of the felt window guide. Then remove the 10mm bolt inside the door that secures the lower end of the felt window track. Then pull the fixed window up and out.
