Hey Everyone,

Well I am trying to plan another camping trip for the friends and I, and I thought we were going to go back to Indian Valley Reservior (Figured it would have a decent amount of water this time of year). Apparently someone else told my friend they were there last weekend, and it was pretty much dry.

So the search continues. I am just looking for any suggestions on where people would suggest.

I prefer primitive camp grounds. Free is highly preferred.

What would be nice:
-Easy Road to get to. (Some will probably bringing regular cars...)
-Camping next to water of some sort. Lakes preferred, but a river / creek will work.
-Decent fishing. (Any type, fly fishing, bait, bass, etc) (We have a small alumin boat if it's near a lake).
-4x4 roads near by... for me.
-Legal to shoot guns (not required but would be nice!)

We don't really care wear as long as it isn't too far. about 4 hours or less from the Bay is preferred...

So if anyone wants to throw out some suggestions that'd be great!

Thanks guys!

Oh and if anyone else wants to come, the more the merrier. This is for the last weekend in May. (29-31st).

Lake Comanche......guns probably arent allowed, but it does satisfy the rest of your list. It's out off of highway 88 and Liberty road. Eagle lakes is always a good time also, it's right on the fringe of 3 hours, about 30 minutes north of Colfax on 80. Eagle Lakes is free, out in the middle of nowhere. Be prepared though, last year at that time it snowed on me.

Lake Tulloch is sweet. There is primitive camping right on the water, and you could pack in as many people there as you like. I haven’t fished there but I have seen many others. You can also take you aluminum boat to the boat in bar at the hotel! The only wheeling there is the mild dirt road in, and there is not any shooting allowed at the lake. However, lots of the time you can shoot where you wheel and it is Calaveras County so there are trails 30-40 minutes away

PS there are 2 rope swings that go over the lake too

I forgot to give an update...

Well we found out the original spot has more water than we thought, so that is where we are heading. We are leaving tomorrow morning, and should have a good time. But if anyone else wants to join us, you are more than welcome!
