Hi Guys

I'm new on here, and I have been trying really hard to find more info on this Baja jeep MJ, I would like to build a similar one also with independent suspension.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

every time i see that pic i want to know 3 things:

1.) who built it
2.) where does he live
3.) does he lock it at night

:D

I heard it was built for a Mexican racing team.

What?! :D

You could do worse...

It seems like an engine cage + frame stiffeners would be desirable / necessary, runnign coilovers and IFS like that.. Would handle real nice and provide long travel through the whoops I'd think...
Where is the technical hurdle? Somebody build one, already!

Mexican drug smugglers crossing the boarder at high speed?

they don't have to cross the border at high speed, our border patrol has enough red tape as it is. Didn't one drug runner get shot and the border patrol agent got sent to jail? Not suprising as there's a marine going to military court for punching a terrorist.

They don't train them like they used to. See link.

Not only did the jail the BP agents, they gave the drug runner a free pass so he can cross into the US any time he wants.

i asked a friend who knows a thing or two. this was his take.

"Look at the rear links, for example. First thing I notice is that the shocks are mounted to two tabs located on the top of the trailing arm. The trailing arm height is about three times what it should be. And probably the worst of all is having the shocks mounted above the center line of the trailing arm. This is going to cause the arm to want to twist and flop over on its self. Having a bushing at the front will help with this but its still not good for the system as a whole.

Same deal with the beams, sort of. There is no need for a beam that is 14" tall and looks like a pirate sword.

If these are the two things I can see I can only imagine what the rest of its like. "

its funny how cool something can look but when you get into how wrong it could be.

very true, and i laughed out loud at the pirate sword remark haha.

I suppose most of us just got all tingly in the pants when we saw it was an MJ, and didn't really look at how it was built. I know I did.
