Need Help With Dash Switches

The spring has broken inside the rear wiper blade switch. How do I get the black box piece that the wires connect to off? I'm afraid if I use any more pressure I'm going to break something. Also, the cigarette lighter is not working anymore. Any suggestions on getting it working again?

First, remove the wiper switch from the bezel. I used a small flat head, work your way around it gently and you'll probably see how it unclips.

Then seperating the "black box piece" is about the same, use the small flathead working around the switch and you will probably figure it out.

Once you get the switch apart get a good look how it all goes together because there are I think 3 springs and 2 metal contacts in there that will easily fall apart. Be working over a desk or table too.

To remove it from the bezel you release a clip on the top and bottom as mentioned with a small flat screwdriver. Bet you have a melted swicth. Mine were melted inside and the spring would no longer apply pressure to the contacts. The ones I picked up at the JY were too. Managed to piece one together from parts and epoxy. Yeah watch the little springs.:sad1:

On the lighter, check for rust inside....HTH...Al

With the lighter, also check for power to the plug. There is a fuse and a relay in that circuit that are only hot with key on and key accessories.
