Goatman said:Just talked to Greg at the Forest Service. At this time Swamp looks doubtful for two weeks from now. But, it's been hot and a lot of snow has melted. For some reason there are a lot of trees down this year, which is making more work to get a crew through the trail to check it out. They did not get to the trailhead at either end of Swamp last weekend. We found this to be true in our area also, one of our adopt-a-trails had 25 tress down, which is many more than usual.
Red Lake just opened, and Coyote should open in two weeks. This could put us in exactly the same situation we were in last year. If it stays hot, they will likely open Coyote before that weekend, but we won't know until the week before. If it stays really hot, Swamp might be open, but it might not be until that Sat if at all.
So, it looks like we plan on Coyote and we'll see how it develops. I would be happy to drive into and camp at Coyote, it's a very nice spot.

I will be on a cattle drive the next weekend, and we go past swamp lake on the other side. So I will let you all know the condition a few days before our trip. Plus Greg Marks should have the word on whether its open or not.
