In order to keep the TomTom from falling off the windshield, and unclutter my view, I mounted it to the dash of my '89. The aux. wiring is available from TomTom, and I think I got the mount on ebay. Very nominal cost, and easily removable.

The TomTom can "see" the satellites from this position, and I have had no problems in the mountains here.:roflmao:

That looks good does that tom tom have any offroading options on it?

I don't think so, when I'm off road, hunting or fishing, it just shows a line to the nearest road.

It has given me some strange direction over extreme dirt roads, not maintained, but obviously on someone's map somewhere.

?? Are there any upgrades you are aware of for the tomtom for off-roading??

whats the box in the center of the cluster?

Aux display for my Valentine ! radar/laser detector. Got that after my $3000.00 speeding ticket!:gonnablow

holy cow... I didn't know an XJ could go fast enough to make a cop that mad. I love my V1, though. Even being 10 years old, it gives an awesome warning distance. My record is 2 miles for an X band "your speed is" sign on Rt 30 near Lancaster.

I have my Garmin in the lower left corner of the windshield, the Garmin windshield mount rocks. Had it on for 3 weeks currently and still rock solid.

you can't just leave it like that. Now you have our attention..... what did you do for a 3000.00 speeding ticket??????????????????

Seriously, were you like... speeding in a school zone under construction, or what? That's a pretty hardcore ticket!

AAhhh! I did dangle that one for you.

I was late for a meeting and westbound on the PA turnpike, at 76 mph. While I was moving with traffic, the limit dropped to 55mph, and there he was over the crest of the hill.:scottm:

Being 21 mph over the limit at the time, the ticket was about 150.00, BUT my insurance went UP $3000.00 because of the 21 over! My first ticket in 10 years. They're not my insurance company anymore.:sure:

If I had known that would happen, I would have taken a day off to fight the ticket, and maybe get it reduced.

This was pre-xj. Red '93 Ford Probe GT, wide wheels and tires, and a blast to drive. That car later caught on fire and burned to death, miss it.:flame:

Nice and clean, mine isn't that clean but its a RAM mount on the windsheild that will not come loose. I like clean installs

Insurance doesn't know about my last two tickets luckily. One is two years ago (still on the record) one is three months ago.

Here is my Tom Tom and Magellan 315 set-up. The Tom Tom gets me to and from the trails and the Magellan helps me go through the trails and also remember turns etc.

I like the cupholders. When you removed that vent, did you cap it off inside the dash? I thought about mounting my CB in that space.

I didn't remove the vent, I used a piece of 1/4" poplar project wood to attach the cup holders to and then used toggle bolts slipped through the vent and tightened down to secure the cup holders. Works great even off road, I have the same cup holder set-up in 3 of the 5 XJ's. The ones pictured are in my 96 trail rig, "Old Blue"
