My Resignation as V/P

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I will soon be selling my XJ. Unfourtanetly I just dont have the time to be active in to the four wheeling scene, and the price of gas puts the jeep out as a daily driver. I wanted to let everyone know its been fun and appreciate all of those that helped with the building of my XJ. I was glad to have met several of you in Hot Springs, and will continue to play a small role in the 4x4 community with my Xterra. Hopefully some day soon I will be able to wheel more often and be able to afford another dedicated off road toy. UNtil then I will lurk around on here and say hi everyonce in a while. I wish everyone well.

Also for my last item as V/P I would like to nominate J.R. as my replacement. I beleive that he has the will and know how to help continue this chapters success.

Brandon asked me to stay until November elections. If no one has a problem with me not having the XJ any more I will do that. As far as complelty leaving I will be around. This is the only jeep borad I am staying on, becuase I have made some good friends here.

Man I hate to see you go. I understand the "circumstances beyond my control" and "gas" thing. I have been thinking about selling my XJ too but its MY only vechicle so thats a "no go" roght now.

It was great meeting you and the wife at Hot Springs... and I will be more than willing to take a trip out your way and the wifes can go out "shopping" and we can take my XJ out wheeling. And when you are looking of another XJ let me know, I know a few guys around here that get them as low as $500.

You can temporarily "adopt" my XJ. I'll just keep it at my house for ya. :farmer:

But seriously, it was great meeting you and yours in Hot Springs. I truly do hate to see you go. You did an excellent job of making me and mine feel welcome and part of the group.

If the lack of a vehicle is an issue, I do not see it. IF you truly enjoy xjs and speaking of, working on, then the possession of one is secondary. At that get in touch with me, if an '88 would be ok, I have one that needs love, and a wrench. I'll find you one for less that 500$ if that's not an option. I understand being broke, and "life" sometimes it's overwhelming, and without a hobby, or past time, I think I would loose my mind. Think about what you're doing, being less active is one thing, stopping is another.

Stick around you have valuable things to teach the noobs. Your a great guy and though I have never met you face to face I have followed your posts on here and would hate to see you leave us. You can sell your rig and look for another when circumstances allow but stay here on the RRC site.

Yea like I said I will hang around. I am also giving my sefl only 60 days to sell it. If it dosent sell, then I will try and work on it some more and get it finished the way i wanted. I know in this times selling an SUV is gonna be hard.

When did/does the count down start?

Chia.... How bad are you wanting to sell it? As much as I want you to keep your XJ. I do know that it has been in good hands, and I know someone who would give it a good home here in Texarkana. I'd rather see you keep it, but if money is tight, and you are in dire need I could probably get it sold for you fairly quickly.

Its in the for sale seciton. I would love to keep it but I could really sue the monye right now. I would love fo it to go to some one who would take care of it and even leave this area so I dont have to see it on the streets.

58 days to go... lol!

What you really need to do is swap that engine out for a 35 mpg diesel, that has lots of low end torque, then use it for the daily driver and off road!

Another option is to keep a fresh egg under the gas peddle. That way you learn to use the gas peddle softly and save lots of gas. The way it works is if you break the egg it's a mess to clean up, and if you don't clean up the mess the smell makes it undrivable in about 2 weeks, either way the DD uses less gas as you learn to be soft on the gas peddle, LOL.

That suggestion was published in car and Driver back in 1979 during the last great gas crisis.

By the way the last time oil jumped 500% in a short time (78-79 IIRC) it lead to a massive recession that took oil back down from about $48/barrel to a stable $9/barrel. Only took a few weeks too, once all the speculators ran for the exit! Everyone was so broke after that, gas was on sale for under a dollar a gallon for the next 10 to 15 years. The oil speculators that drove up the price all went belly up taking the banks and local real estate with them, just like the recent housing buble burst, the oil buble will burst too, and it maybe sooner than later.

Sorry to hear your selling out and keeping an Xterra! Gahd! :gag:

I am facing the same cost problem with my house, it is about to reach $300 to $400 a month just to cool the damn thing, and it's only 900 Sq. Ft. Time to spend $$$s insulating and repairing the leaks, and maybe replace the AC. Hell the electric bill is nearly what the house payments were.

My only problem is I am always too busy fixing my jeeps, to fix my house!hasta

Well I have had one person interested. As for mileage I think the only way its gonna get better gas mileage is with a rebult engine or a deisel. And gears.
