Due to health issues I had to sell my beloved Mustang and take on my second love of building Jeeps. This all started as an idea that was going to go on a new JK but those plans fell through for now and I picked up this LOW mileage XJ 4.0 auto. The original plan for the xj was just a very mild build with just a 4.5" lift and 31 or 32s, nothing special right....Well that all changed when I got a call from a buddy of mine that just returned from deployment saying he had a complete lifted XJ 4.0 5spd that had been in a side slide roll over. Once I looked at it the Rustys suspension, wheels/tires and everything umderneath made it through except for the center link. He gave me a smokin deal and my plan for a mild build has now turned alittle more wild with combining his dream for it and my dream originally for a JK. Heres the plan for now and future.

Swap suspension and axles (will be building a 44 and 8.8)
Full plated frame rails
Custom f&r bumpers
Custom rock sliders/boat sides
Custom tube work going connecting bumpers/sliders forming new wheel arches
Custom full interior roll cage with new rear tubs(next winter
4 linked rear(next winter)
Front long arms
Coilovers front and rear (next winter)
Custom Hydro assist steering
Combine both 231 TCs with custom shifter
A custom urban digital camo "Zombie Response Team" vinyl wrap with orange accent powdercoating.

Im sure theres more I'm forgetting and this will be a lengthy build but I will update as everthing progresses. Stay tuned!!!

Welcome to the forum!

I'm trying really hard to be nice. I think the visual theme is moronic and a waste of money. Plus, if you actually wheel it, the wrap would get destroyed in the first half hour.

Mechanically it sounds like you are biting off a lot. Start small, do a little bit at a time and see which upgrades you actually need to wheel the trails you want to. Lockers, small lift, tires, recovery points, and armor would be my highest priorities if I were in your spot.

It's being discussed in another thread right now as well, but the short story is that more mods and more $ doesn't necessarily make the rig work better.

First off this isn't my first build, second I didnt say this is all happening now, it will be all done over time little by little. As for the wrap I do a lot of events involving kids including my own which is where the wrap idea came from and when your best friend has the inkjet and all I have to pay for is the vinyl it doesn't cost much. The nice thing about this design is each panel can be reprinted individualy if it does get messed up. I know several rigs with full wraps that have been on over a year now and they havent gotten destroyed. Thanks for the intrest though.

I'm guessing you mean you're going to do a 231/231 doubler when you say "combine both 231s with custom shifter"?

If that's the case, the front D44 is going to hate life.

Yes and as for the D44, I have one already but thats all next winters project and very likely to change between now and then depending on what I come across this year. Every build I've done (Mustang or Jeep) I've started with a plan and never seem for follow it. Lol

looks like a plan.

I figure when you said a bunch of stuff like the rockers and such were going to be custom that this wasn't your first build. that or your incredibly well off and are having it built.

good luck.

LOl... cool scheme. You have quite a build plan there, looks good. Keep us updated on how it goes. NAC has a few events each year, if you can make it out, it would be great to meet new people in the Pa area. Lewistown is up near State College right? I drive through there on my way to our cabin.

If a build says antything about zombie response then i just dont care.

come on guys lets let this guy get to at least 100 posts before he realizes were a bunch of jerks.

but seriously your not giving NAXJA a good name by picking on a brand new member, before he has a chance to settle in.

I will be doing all the work myself or with the help of friends. The wrap pic is just the rough draft to give an idea of the final look so there are a few changes that will be made. As for the theme, like I said, I have kids and we do a lot of event involving kids so this is more for them. Every vehicle I've built I let my kids pic the theme and this is what they chose so honestly if you dont like the theme, dont read the thread. The donor has al my suspension, wheels/tires and some misc. I will be using that all made it throught the roll fine. We will be starting the teardown and build next week so I'll update as it goes.

Oh and are for this being a rough site/forum....this isn't my first rodeo. I can take criticism, and I know opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and their usually full of shit. Thanks!!!

If you look close its not shooti g the zombie in the dick, more in the right leg. If it only has one leg it cant walk I guess. Lol Thats going to be changed alittle bit before its printed along with a few other small changes.
