My poor XJ's tranny died

I've got a 12" square plate that I bolt on instead of the jack saddle, and use a ratched strap to hold the tranny in place. Not perfect but works pretty well.

Thats basically what I have but larger and the steel I choose was too thin on its own... use rachet straps as well.
