make sure you have chains...
Who is wanting to go?
I do want to go, although I'd prefer to meet at/on the trail. I certainly like the comment about chains :) May be we should try to make it to the top ?

You want to meet us at the trail head?? I usually like to meet in Prather so those who are unfamiliar with the way there, dont get lost.

I am considering buying chains that fit my tires so I can do as well as you!

Slonopotam made it further than anyone last time, and he was the only rig wearing chains. Just to give you an idea of what chains can do for you.

Do you all want to have a picinc? I was thinking about bringing my colman grill and some hot dogs or sausages. Food is important, very important.

NOAA is calling for 60% chance of snow, so hopefully not to much slush.

anyone have air?

Slonopotam knows why I am asking :D

is it recomended for 1 (2 back tires) or 2 (all 4 tires) sets of chains?
Owners manual says you should put them on the rear only.
However, look at this guy from WA.

You can clearly see the chains on the front as well.
I'd say it's probably not a good idea to run chain on the front on road. I am also afraid that if I put them offroad, they will catch on the swaybar links or the body.

Do you mean the last episode with 3 guys digging and 2 jeeps pulling me out ? :)

I believe Bryan showed great technique and got at least as far as I did. I also remember some really amazing truck going up pretty well. Then I got busy digging :)

Just make sure they fit, don't go too fast, and chains on the front work well.

Technique? If hammer down in high range is technique then OK.....:)

I have a buddy with a YJ that ran chains front and rear on his 31" AT tires. That thing did really good, well until he lost 2 of them in some slush.

I am glad to see this, I was going to go to JV but this sounds more like what I want to do with my kids. I will be bringing my daughter (5) and son (4) and no wife, she will be out of town.

Chuck are you going also??

I will bring both Co2 and compressor so we should be covered.

I have a compressor extra sausers and an eight year old girl. 90% probability of attendence and rising. This whole tire chain thing is mostly for the CHIP'ers correct!?! I have like three sets but none fit my XJ. I guess I could lace two together.....:explosion

That was some NASTY slush! I think he was stuck even if he had all 4 in that ugly mess! But the 4 did work great earlyer in the day in just the snow and up out of the mud.

Yeah, that's the one. I hated that crap, I got seriously stuck at least 3 times and blew up my AW4 for the last time. :gonnablow

It looks like I'm planning to go. I have the smog extension sticker on the XJ good to May.

Im out this weekend. My trackbar just broke while I was driving to school and I almost hit a bus. POS. I'm LIVID about it. I dont have the time until Friday night to fix it. So I am more than likely out. Does anyone in the central valley (Frenso, Madera, Clovis ect..) have a spare not TRE trackbar that I can borrow or buy? I can pay you in a week.

You can take the one off my XJ and borrow it if you want. its an RE with a hiem on one end and its shorter forthe raised axle mount. If that fits what you need, the new owner wont mind.

Thanks scrappy. I had a Rusty's (got it before I knew better). I think a RE heim will fit on a rusty's mount.

Im out -

wheeling 4 hours away the day before I leave for Nebraska doesnt seem like the brightest idea - that and the jeep that i have here is less than prepared - I had planned on putting a front tow point on it sometime this week - and am damn sure it wont get done before this weekend.

Wa wa wa wa I dont get to go wheeling wa wa wa waaa
