My new tow rig

No insulation? That will not stay very warm or very cold will it?

it's not done on the inside yet. I need to coat the roof with the reflecto paint I picked up this week. I'm planning blue insulation in the ceiling, but it might not get done before Harlan. The sleeping area above the cab is not going to be done either. It will be usable, cause I'm going wheeling damnit.

Very clean, dude you gots some skills... I need to bring a tow rig to you for outfitting.

I didn't do much of the wood work and the cabinets were prefinished/powdercoated. A nice "buddy deal" that saved me a ton of coin.

I can only take credit for the windows and the mechanicals.

OK that makes sense then. I was not sure if cabinets went in before the insulation. Looks good!

probably not insulating the walls. they're 3/4 plywood with fiberglass bonded on each side. The aluminum roof seems to be the biggest issue. If the walls suck I'll stick some blue foam on those too.

Nate don't worry too much about the insulation, I don't think the bus has much and the 15kbtu ac keeps it cool in the summer and the two milk box heaters keep it warm in the winter.......

Who cares about efficiency when you get all the electric you can use at the campground......

Very valid point.

yeah, but I has no AC :(

but I do have tones of opening windows, and a very large overhead door. So hopefully it's not too bad. The guys that are using the uhaul boxes say insulating the roof is the biggest thing that can be done.

a buddy is hooking up some crazy industrial 2 sided tape, so I'm going to get the blue foam stuck to the ceiling this week.

GEt a portable ac unit, or better yet get a window unit and mount it to the side of the beauty.

I bought my A/C unit for the my truck camper from the local RV place here in town, brand new out the door they sell em for around $500 or $550 plus tax, I bought the heat element for it for $50 more.

In the hot or cold, its worth EVERY penny spent, especially to sleep at night in comfort.

Sometimes you can find them used.

mac 'the only way to camp' gyvr

window AC unit has been discussed. I'm not spending $500 on a "proper" RV unit.

I've also considered a swamp cooler, both for it's cheapness, and it's much smaller electrical demand. SOmething to consider since I will not be doing a gennie, but rahter a battery bank.

You don't need a very big ac to cool it off. I went with a 15k btu unit because it has to take out the sun heat and engine and tranny heat while driving down the road. I bet you could get away with an 8k unit, i hate sleeping with swalls.

yeah, we'l figure someting out. I picked up a bunch of 1" blue foam insulation for the roof, so between the aluminum coating and that I think we'll be alright.

yeah, 10K lb bolt in rings. They'll be bolted through the big flange that holds the box to the chassis. I'd love to do recessed like you suggested, but with how the box is built and attached it's just not possible. Don't stub your toe is all I can tell people.

in other news.
