My little truck project...Mighty Mouse

Yea, I'm not sold on the red either. The intake could be repainted if it needs it.

Man, I can't wait til this thing is done!

I must admit, I'm kinda worried about keeping rear tires on it. I'm not building this thing to drive Miss Daisey!!! It's gonna scat!

I'm choosing the low road on this one, it'll be a first but it should be fun.

A slight change of plans. By that I mean the Red MJ is on the hot seat again. That's the truck I wanted to build to start with because it's a SWB and it'll be a 6 speed. I need some opinions though. I have a wheel picked out already but I'm still working on the tire size. I had Jackie's MJ at the house so I thought I would do some test fitting.

These are a p295/50R15 with a 2" lowering block.

The rear will have to come down some more and I'm thinking about linking it to get rid of the leaves.

I'm thinking P245/60R15's on the front. They are almost the same overall diameter but they won't "hang" out so much in the front.

Thoughts???

I think its neat.

Did Ben hijack your computer???:D

No... Ok I like the stance as is. I don't like supper low trucks. I think that wheel fits well there as is.

I think you should either lift it and make it a dune jumper, or bag and body drop it so low that the hood has to be notched for the tires to stick out the top :) or leave it looking completely stock with quiet mufflers and turbo it, with an 8.8 with moser shafts and a Detroit so it'll be the ultimate sleeper. It would be hilarious to watch you embarrass people in "fast cars"...

I'm with you Glenn, I don't like super low trucks, I guess I've seen too many low riders lowered the "wrong" way.

I do plan to keep this one semi-low to the ground though, mainly for ride comfort. I'm not as young as I used to be so getting bounced around in a lifted Jeep every day is not as much fun as it once was. Oh well. I still plan to have lots of fun with this one.

Eric, the 8.8 is a done deal but I'm still unsure on the shafts. A super 8.8 kit isn't out of the question though. I've seen the beating those axles can take so I'm sure a little LS power would be nothing for them.

It won't be "bagged" per se but more than likely it will be a linked rear of some sort with maybe coil-overs. I'm just not sure yet.

I have a long way to go before I'm to that part.

What kind of end ride height are you looking for? I'm probably building a 56 ford street truck for my neighbor so I've been looking over a lot of different suspension designs for it. Suspensions are a lot easier to build when it needs to travel 6 inches :D

i'll probably be doing a link and coil setup for him....surely i can find a find a firm rate coil that wont kill the ride, his truck is a weekend warrior, driven to every show with the family so it cant ride like a buckboard.

a stock 8.8 should hold up fine in a street truck....

It's gonna depend on the front, actually. I figure that will determine the rear. I'm not sure what kind of clearance I'm gonna have from the beam to the oil pan but I'd like to drop the front a couple inches which means, from stock, the rear should go down about 4-5". This is just estimates, guesses, right now though.

Great, you're making me want to build an MJ AutoX truck again! One of the local guys ended up going to Nationals in an 89 MJ....back in 89. Of course if I do that I have to cut the beam to get some camber out of it like the XJ-R guys did.

Mine's gonna be street only. Well, it might possibly see a strip at some point but for starters just for the street. ;)

I think a stock 8.8 will hold up fine, really, as long as you don't do too much else to the motor. I've seen 500 hp mustangs do just fine with them, and the camaro that came out of most likely just had the same 10 bolt as the half ton trucks with a 4.3... You don't see people swapping those under anything for extra strength, lol
