My HP44 swap

Before you throw the wheels on it get a wms measurement if you could. I want to see how wide this sucker is going to be on your rig!

Well before I strip it down to have the truss built & after installing all the 5 lug stuff on, it was 65 wms to wms.

Eric is correct on my 44, I did mount the coils over the tubes. I am sure your set up will be fine, but like Jes said while building a custom axle I chose to build it to what worked for my jeep at the time.

Looks good, I should have left mine full width!!

So I am one step closer. The gears, locker with all new bearings & seals are in. My new SOLID diff cover is not in my had at this point. So I used my old one for now. I am now going to be doing the brakes, hubs & lock out hubs.

Damn dude thats a lot of bling, Glad to see your putting it to some proper use and stetpping it up to 37's. BTW I'll be in Reno this weekend. Coming in tonight for the expendables show, then prerunning around the fernly masterpully 500 course then camping at moonrocks or pyramid lake.

It sure do look purdy! Man I can't wait to get mine done. I've got my locker (went with the Eaton E-Locker) but still need all the rest of the internals as well as steering. I've only got the Chevy knuckles with Ford outers for mine. Not as nice as yours for sure. Are you going with a cross-over or inverted "T" style steering? I'm guessing "T" since you have the 2 high arms on it. I'm thinking of going to the cross-over with the tierod mounted otk on the stock arms. Keep the updates coming.

i like the build im jealous.
your front axle alone is worth more than most entire built jeeps i part out.

i cant justify the cost right now to build a 44 so i got new calipers/pads and went OTK on the tie rod for now. ill truss my lp30 some more and truss the hell outta the hp30 and hope between the 2 i can get a few more years on 35s.

Well I am one step closer. Got the brakes done on the left side.

Well as you can see I am running the Reid kunckels do to the fact that that you cant run Ford flat top kunckels (8 lug) with 5 lug spindels & brakes. So i went with all 1978 Ford F150 spindels, brakes, bearings & seals.

Let me help here Reid racing knuckels 500.00 high steer arms 100.00 each I only ran one for my drag link. tie-rod ends 200.00 Dom 80.00, pitman arm 65.00. locker and gears 1200.00 T&T truss 550.00 new wheels 300 to 400 hundred. labor to install gears and narrow axle if you chose to do so 1000.00 new hubs 100.00 I was able to use the old rotors calipers and pads. Lets not forget the cost of the axle or in my case axles and all my time on cutting off old perches cleaning the axles. I am not including shipping or gas to drive my crap all over the country. Alot if you do everything I did you should take Phils advice and just get Dynatracks or Prorock 60s just my 2 pennys. Looks good I look foward to wheeling with you soon. :smoker: Jon if you still want the part numbers I can give you what I have you can use the ones you want, and build as much as you see fit.

yah after adding up all those costs ill stick to my 30 and just add additional trussing and enjoy the fact that i have chromos/truss/ruffstuff cover/new brakes/OTK /currie, and it doesnt cost much since im always wheelin and dealin
and 2 sets of spare shafts and tons of unit bearings and brakes and stuff and keep it cheap.
and im only running 35s anyway.

but man those HP 44s are nice. real nice. bigger housing/gears/brakes sounds nice.

I hope so to Jon it doesn't seem like it yet, I will let you know after I drive it for the first time. :dunno: Forgot to mention 90.00 dollars to Dutchman to cut down my axle shafts, if you do alloys which I will be at some point their is another 600.00 to a thousand bucks if you do CTMs?

I am hoping to be able to install a set of RCV shafts just after I pay for my new KM2's.

im sorry for the thread hijack. i almost bought a ford hp44 housing only(but it had no bearing caps)
your build is very nice. you got some nice knuckles thats for damn sure. and truss, and spindles and brakes and more.

So I got the 44 back to its new home. I mocked up the my coils to test out the mounting brackets. The coils sit & lock down very nice.
