Woohoo, my girl and I just bought our first Jeep. 97 XJ, 4 door, 4.0 automatic 4x4.

Of course there are many plans for it, as time passes, they'll get done.

Love the boards so far, LOTS of great info on XJ's, looking forward to wheelin with my "new" Jeep.

First post, obviously, so take it easy on the newb, not like I just discovered the internet. Not sure if my avatar states so, but I'm in Mesa, AZ.

Step ONE: Get a factory service manual
Step TWO: Change ALL fluids
Step Three: Never ever tell your wife what the parts REALLY cost :laugh3:

Excellent advice, and actually the VERY first things upon my list, that, and the brakes, need a little TLC. Overall a very nice XJ IMO, has a few miles (159xxx), but picked it up for $3100, think I got a decent deal.

for a 97? yeah - great deal..

i paid 2100 for my 92 1 year ago... and that was a decent deal... 5 years newer, same mileage - yeah you got it...

one piece of advice -
learn to used the search function and love it... that alone will keep the "newb" posts to a minimum

Welcome to the wonderful world of Jeep
