My first Jeep/my newest money pit!

So far so good, set my alignment again and haven't had any issues. It feels nice and 'tight' and cuts those big tires with ease! Ill report anything that should come up!

Got some 4.5'' packs with some 6 degree shims today. Might not use the shims, but at least I got some decent leafs!

Got the leaf packs swapped today, it wasn't terrible since the bolts had been taken off recently and when I did them last I cleaned the threads with PB Blaster and a wire brush. I didn't really have the right hand tools I needed, but I made due. I'm really happy with the outcome, I imagine once it settles it will sit level. This is on the 1'' section of the adjustable shackle so I can always go up a hole if it's sitting to high in the rear.

Well the driveline angle is ****ed now that the 4.5'' packs are in with the shackle, and by ****ed I mean not driveable. The yoke/driveshaft are binding up allowing the driveshaft to not spin freely. (not surprised, but didn't expect it to be that bad) So I'm at a crossroads, A. Pull the transfer case to install the SYE and measure for a custom driveshaft or B. Sell it. Not sure yet.....lol but the return on the ''enjoyment'' side of things just isn't there YET, and it makes it hard to justify more money on something I don't even have fun with/get to drive often. Not trying to 'wimp' out, I'm just trying to be practical about the money I've thrown at this thing!

SYE the damn thing, and go enjoy it-- you've got enough time/money into it to justify doing it right and getting something out of it!

never mind that you'll never get squat out of it if you sell when it doesn't even move-- Get it working and give it a couple trips; if you still wanna sell it, you'll at least get the cost of the SYE back versus a non-moving heep.

There are a few things that just HAVE to be done to lift these things. Bottom line. Nothing different from anyone else's issues. Do it right, and it will be right.

You wouldnt get anything if you sold it like it is since its not driveable, and you wont get anything if you put it back stock to get it driveable. Spend the $250 on a SYE, throw in in there, and install an OEM front driveshaft. Done.

If you were concerned about spending money you got into the wrong game......doing it right means spending $$$ you will never get back.....what you get is the enjoyment out of it. I've got 6k in a jeep that books for 2k, did it right and its a blast ro drive/wheel and it stays together...nuff said.

Hack-n-Tap SYE is cheap and the transfer case doesn't need to come out. you could easily get away with a front driveshaft as the rear also. I have over 8 inches of lift and I used a grand cherokee front driveshaft and HnT SYE..........fixed everthing and for about $200 total. Don't forget to shim your rear diff with the double cardan replacement driveshaft.

Saving money is a plus, but I'm not so ''worried'' about the money side of it....I bought a Jeep at $4 a gallon. lol It's just going to be a chore to do my first TC drop/SYE install with my limited tools in my driveway and I'm lazy. I've already got an SYE, I'd just need a shaft and those can be pricey. I'm just expecting the easy ''front shaft'' trick to not work for me for some reason since that's my experience with Jeeps so far. If it could be a problem, it will be a problem. lol

The front shaft will bolt right in. I have them in both of my Jeeps, and I have installed the same set-up in 4 others. It will work.

You already have the SYE?? You are only a front driveshaft away from solving your problems. Get the shaft. Install the SYE. Get the front end all aligned properly if you plan to keep those tires, get the pinion angle correct and drive/wheel it.
