MWC Redbird Trail Clean Up

I noticed that things could use some tidying up on the trail at Redbird this weekend. We seen everything from beer cans to tire/wheels to hoods. There is also places that could use a little shovel time to drain some of the massive holes. We could talk to management to see what they wanted/needed done. I'd like to have a trail clean up sometime this spring. IMO, we as a chapter need to do more activities like this. No since in doing it in the dead of cold, might as well wait till it warms up, maybe this comming spring. Maybe clean up one day and wheel the next. I tossed out the idea to others this weekend and it seemed to be well recieved. Might be handy to have an ATV/UTV or two when we do this too. Maybe even the chapter could provide hotdogs for lunch for us and the Redbird staff. Let me know what you guys think. I think it'd be a great way to show our apperciation and support.

I think that's an excellent idea. When we were out last time I tossed an empty oil container and some otehr stuff in the back of mark's MJ. Seems that some of the hillbillies just chuck trash out.

Let's make it a warm, dry day. JIM.

I mentioned it to the gate attendent when I was leaving. He said that would be great. I also asked him about the lack of trash can problem. He said that they're trying to get a dumpster for the sights, but the policy is "Pack it in Pack it out" thats why they don't have any trash cans. I said, "If we where to help to provide some would the staff keep them empty". He said, "I don't know". I feel regardless of the policy the cans should be provided as long as the volonteer staff will empty them. I think people will be more apted to put the trash in a receptacle rather than just toss it. At the least we could look into helping provide the dumptster.

Regardless of a dumpster or trash barrels, we should put the MWC insignia on them.

and kill our "badass" image?
we should rape and pillage, then provide a dumpter :D

Forget the trash cans and dumpsters. They are too expensive, and we don't go to redbird enought to justify the expense. That is something that should be provided by a local club that is there more often.

A clean up is a great idea. We would need dumpsters there that day, which is easy enough to arrange, and not terribly expensive for a one time thing. How would we pay for them? Is there money allocated for events that could be used? Would a shop sponsor it?

We have money in the treasury that might be available. Needs to be discussed further among the BOD, maybe after Winterfest. It'd be nice if we could maybe catch a discount from one of those dumpster rental places in exchange for mentioning them in a writeup for the NAXJA & UFWDA newsletters as well as a local paper.

I have come acrost three 55 gallon barrals for free, and was told where I could inquire on a source for more free ones. They contained pop syrup, nothing bad enviromently. I am more concerned on getting them emptied by the staff.

Yeah, pop isn't bad for you.....

BTW, you ever use CocaCola to eat the crap off of your battery terminals?
:D

You gonna lug 3+trash barrels 6hours in your XJ?
:spin1:

Open top barrels won't work either. They'll need to have a flat metal lid with a handle. They are not hinged, just a lift it up and toss in garbage lid, usually secured to an adjcent post with a chain. Open top barrels will be a varmint attractant, trash would scattered everywhere. Coons and such can't get into them with the lids. That's the way they have them at the local parks here and it seems to work.

The three have tops. how they're on there I don't know. I will run over, and get them tomarrow. See What I can come up with. Realisticly I'm thinking three, or four will do. One at the restrooms, one at the pavilion, one at the far end of parking lot, and maybe one at the gate house.
