Well I got 39.5x18.00 boggers on 15x10 non bead locks that are 90% tread ,but am looking at bead locks and 42's the 10 wide rim on 18.00 wide tire has proven effective at 3psi...lol...even at 65mph ,but I'm looking for a rock tire and since these are only like 14.50 wide they fit as "easy" as my boggers I'm leaning towards bfg b/c they look ,well...cooler ,but if the performance of the Mt/r is tons better I'd rethink my pick I'll be aquiring a ram 2500/trailer ,so krawlers will be RED label

BFG all the way. Maxxis are super heavy. It's not that I dislike the MTR, just really expensive. Plus the Krawlers are stickier

Krawlers are hard to beat but I think the Kevlars are right there with them, its something I'm trying to decide myself. Only thing that keeps me away from the Kevlars is even the non-stickies are 450$ each and I would need to get new rims (although with how much stauns are for my currrent rims it might not be a bad thing). Thats a lot of money for a "street" tire. Same thing for the Krawlers too though, there also nicelt expensive. I'd really love to borrow a set of the 40" Kevlars and run them once just to see how they are for that size because they are very tempting. A good buddy of mine got to test a set of prototype 40" Krawlers out last year at EJS and absolutely loved them, he said it was a night/day improvement over his 39.5" Iroks.

krawlers are 300+ a tire. way more than the mtr

price those kevlars in a 40 and 42 inch buddy

40" Kevlars ccompared to 39" Krawlers and you are looking at just under 100$ more each for the Krawler, this is just off of tire rack. We're talking 480$ for the Kevlar and 560$
for the Krawler.

I'm admittedly and full fledgedly a BFG fan for both on and offroad. I think the KM1's and the KM2's are way better than the older MT/R's, but I have't ran or been around anyone running the Kevlar. What I've been reading and hearing though has me really looking at them for myself. I do think the Krawler is on a little bit higher level and more specifically designed for wheeling while the Kevlar is a bit more dual purpose in design. That being said, if they perform like people are raving who cares. I'll save the 80-100$ a tire and get the Kevlars. Either way I would need to go to a 17 and Kevkars come in the 40" sizing that I want.

sorry i was thinkin 35" tires....

even so.. look at the forums here in CO....
all the guys that were running Krawlers are selling to buy mtrs. think thats cuz teh krawlers are better??? lol

I'm not saying either way. I know the Krawlers were always top dog without going to a sticky/comp tire. Now the Kevlars and the PitBull Rockers are the top 2 tires it seems. I do know that Shannon Campbell ran Kevlars this year and thats enough to get me thinking right there. Ideally I'd love to go down to Penrose and have a set of the Krawlers and a set of the Kevlars and run the trails back to back swapping between the tires, then make my decision from there. Its hard to go with what you read and hear and the same tire performs differently with different rigs and in different sizing. Ask anybody who loves the Iroks like I do, the 39.5" Irok absolutely sucks. Pretty much any other size and you've got a great tire. Don't ask me why either, but I loved my 36" Iroks and thaats why I specifically searched for them in the bigger size. After two trails now I want something diffferent.

1- pitbull tires suck. never seenem do good or heard anyone that wheeled hard that liked them

2- campbell could have run thornbirds and won :lmfao:

And his decision to go with Kevlars had nothing to do with the tire itself IMHO. BFG really pulled back for this year's KOH and GoodYear really pushed for sponsorship, simple economics really. But it still saud something when somebody like Shannon goes with a certain brand and then pulls a win.

Shannon probably could have one in my Jeep, because he is that damn good. I just wouldn't want to have to be the one to fix it after he did. :D

BFG is still rolling in money. grab a tire magazine/report. they are doing HUGE numbers. more than goodyear..
goodyear just knows that they have an amazing product and are really pushing to kick out BFG. same with GENERAL and desert racing.

i dont think he is against the tires...but any smart racer is gonna run what tires are getting him the best deal

This, you can almost get a full size spare with the money you save. And I doubt that you would regret going with the kevlars.

the old km1's were the suck. the old mtrs are blown out of the water by the kevlars.

come wheel with me. ill show ya what kevlars will do (just dont look at the rest of the jeep)

or ask anyone whose been out with me... they all leave saying "i need kevlars" its nit cuz i wheel well, its cuz the tires tsake a beating on the sidewalls, grab everything and then drive home at 80

i don't remember saying the MTR's were cheaper????? Goodyear is overpriced. Just remember you're Goodyears are being made right alongside Kelly. They lost me a long time ago witha set of Eagle GT+4 that 3 wore horribly and eagle RS-A that thrummed so bad i sold them on ebay

Same can be said for KM2s.:eyes:

Buy me a set and you'll never hear me argue about looking at another tire. :D

Like I said, I'm strongly considering them but right now I don't have 2000$ to buy new tires (let alone the rims to go with them) so its a moot point. I'm also looking at other rim options too besides a 17 and that means no Krawlers or Kevalrs for me if thats what I choose.

i had KM2's.
i now have kevlars.
i will NEVER look back!
KEVLARS = GLUE!!!!!! just sayin...
plus i got full trail warranty with the kevlars.
if i puncture it doing anything, they will replace it!

i cant tell you about the others because i have never owned them....

just go with the Kevlars, you wont be disappointed!!!!
i cant even imagine what 40 inch kevlars would do on the trail!

You cant compare 33x10.5X that you didnt really wheel compared to a 35x12.5Y you haven't wheeled much either.

I have never owned a kevlar tire, but I have wheeled with a lot of people who run them and I haven't seen anything to be impressed on. Snow bashing = suck (Garret and Ben), Spring Creek = not good (Garret and Ben), Chinamans = not good (Mike) and from riding in the back of my dads jeep (has the MTR W/K) they are loud as heck and feel like a rock hard compound.

I have ran KM2s in 33x10.5 on 15x8 d windows and 35x12.5 on 15x10 beadlocks. I have been nothing but blown away by them. I ran the 33"s in the May moab spring fling, Colorado fest, and on random trails 1-2 times a month from anything like penrose- snow bashing and they always rocked! The one time I hated them was in penrose, but I am sure when it is as muddy as it was, nothing would grip. The 35"s are insane and they grab everything and rock, and snow bashing they are awesome, no complaints, except that they grip to much sometimes.

I know I just compared something I am very familiar with to something I have never personally dealt with besides on the highway. I don't understand why everyone is riding Goodyears nuts with the Kevlars, just seems like everyone wants to be cool so they get those tires.

Although I do admit I am jealous of the MTR w/K sticky 42s that my friend Darren has, those are the sickness.
