Moving back the rear axle

What's the most amount of stretch you get can get away with without relocating the gas tank? I'm running an 8.25 with a ruffstuff cover. It look's like I could do about 3".

I like Ross' idea there with changing the front mount out to one where you can go different stretches at. It seems like it would compliment the standard shackle relocation brackets well.

thats another option i forgot about. there is a PDF floating around with leaf spring rates, lengths, and center pin measurements... finding something stock that will fit the bill and adjusting the shackle with relocation brackets is deffinantly a cheaper option than custom leafs.

its not the pdf version but here you go... I saved it for future mods on mine...lol

This is what I did. It yields about 3" stretch and works super bitching.

Stock Bronco II rear leafs, relocation brackets and 1.5" shackles. It ended up up at about 5.5-6" lift over stock.

How is the flex on that rear setup I have Dodge Dakota bastard pack and not really liking the rear flex it has. Its pretty stiff.

I have the TnT U-Bolt Eliminators so I have the same 1" adjustment. I think I will end up flipping my springs and making a traction bar.

I've never seen flipped springs last. In a leaf spring, the front half of the spring has the function of a control arm to locate the axle. That's why the front half of the pack is a little shorter and thicker than the rear. Plus, if you look at your springs under full compression, the front half gets more out of shape than the back half even though it is stronger. When you flip the spring around now the weaker front half takes even more abuse, and it has nothing to do with a traction bar.

It feels pretty balanced with the front 3 link. Right now I'm running 8" travel bilstein 5100's and I'm taking them to their limit as is. I'm pretty sure I could run something longer.
