Nothings ever easy or perfect in life. Where's Yan? Is it past his bedtime?
No, but some of these ideas make me want to crawl into bed and pull the covers over my head.
Oh come on lose the attitude. How you take someone's opinion is totally up to you. While some may come off harsh, a lot of guys on this forum do have some serious credibility. UrbanYan has been dabbling in HID tech and retros for years. So has Talyn. So have I. So rest assured, while you may not agree with some of what is said (again, everyone has opinions), no one is talking out of their @ss.
I'd love to see this retro follow through to completion. You're thinking outside of the box, and going against the grain. Both can lead to great things. My personal fear, is that you'll finish the retro and the projectors will either fail in one way or another (peeling reflective bowls, failed solenoids, friction between the plungers etc), or you'll finish and the output will be total garbage. Time will tell.

Even good OEM HIDs have a warm up time. Whether you notice it or not i don't know.
Nothing like a HID warm up. As stated there is a reason why the OEMs have a flap or high halogen instead of two HID lamps.

Please elaborate on which ideas are bothersome to you. I do rather enjoy reading your comments.
I only have two thoughts with regards to these types of projects:
1 - Form should follow Function.
2 - Think with your head, not your wallet.
Ben824 and mmag1982 did their retros the right way. sbxj get's it right every single time (best work I've seen to date on an XJ). The rest of this thread.... hmmmm.... I'm sure you're nice guys, so I'll give you sparkly star stickers for effort.
Wait a minute, no disrespect but it is their cut up nonsealed housings, cutting the header panel, high expense, and your expensive superior optics bugeye lights that made me want to try it a different way. Yes they are pioneers and I appreciate all their work but with their attempts I have tried to take it a little different route with similiar or better results, mostly sealed, plug and play, less expensive.
not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but I'd like to add that angel eyes are f'ing stupid. i can see if it's a euro spec thing where you need a city light and not a headlight like the BMWs are spec'd for, but just throwing an angel eye setup in there makes you look like a huge tool. it's like the german version of a weeaboo.
Jeeps aren't bimmers. By that logic, you should slap some z fenders on your Jeep... oh and whatever mods necessary to make your XJ an overpriced electrical nightmare.

Those are some big work for someone with quad HID fogs in the bumper. People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
