so guys after many people turn me away from getting a lancer for a daily driver. i decided on a new ride.

a late model 240sx (1997-98)
XCNI240SE972.jpg
XCNI240SE973.jpg

4banger 2.4l pushing close to 200hp to the REAR wheels
it also has the extra space i need being 6'3" and needing trunk space.

anyone drive one or even better build one?
any comments or concern would be apreciated.
thanks
cas

First off they put out more like 150-160hp. Never drove an s14 but i absolutly loved my s13. I am only 6'1" but it had all the room i needed, but the same cant be said for the backseat passangers. I wish i didn't sell it, it was the best handling car i ever owned.
You could drop in a SR20det for about $2500 and get about 220hp on stock boost. There are also tons of suspension options out there.

i have had a 97 240sx since 2000, i love her. she is a damn fun car to drive. mine has some bolt ons to add to the joy (i can,t leave any thing stock) drop me a pm if you want more info

If you have interest in turbo rwd import, the 240 is definately a good choice

OOH ME OOH ME!!! I GOT ONE!!!

I friggin love it, 92 240sx I'm building as a drag car. Shooting for 450hp to the wheels. I'm building a custom intake manifold with individual throttle bodies too. Good luck finding a 97-98, they're out there but they're big bucks. Worth every penny too.

Mines in peices under the knife right now, caging it, turboing it, the works. The first picture has Eibach springs and 17" Enkei CDR-9's. Apex N1 GT-Spec exhaust too.

lancers are lame 240's have alot of support for parts and they are pretty nice....personally i like neons lol hell of alot cheaper car lol

LOL, this is just too funny. A neon owner (or renter?) dissing a different brand of car? Just priceless. After high school, who is going to think a neon is kewl?

Stock for stock Im pretty sure a lancer would walk all over a neon...

grow up.....

any neon fan has to have a thick skin they jsut are not "cool" or tough. So lame and associated with cute girly cars the new caliber promotion focus's on the caliber "un cuteness" its not cute. The neon ruined low end dodge so much that despite a name change and totally new from the ground up design they have to distance the new car from the neon. Neons just arent cool. Fact, neon SRT4 is fast and a good value. Its still a fwd 4 door and just not cool, no matter what you do to it ... it just becomes a "cooler neon" aka less lame.

I like them for what they are. I just not a fan of FWD cars period. I would have liked the neon allot more if it was a 2 door hatchback.

Just not cool car dude. If your into them and an owner this cant be the first time you heard this.

About the 240 ... saweet. I only driven in them never drove one. I dig the rwd and the price. The jap rwd cars are seriously underappreciated by the bling bling ricer crowd that thinks they are car guys. I dont understand why they dig the fwd 4 bangers and arent selling their left nads to get a clean 300zx, turbo rx7, mr2. I just hear about how sweet eclispe and supras are. The 300zx, the 240, the rx7, and mr2 dont get their due respect. Heck i think a stock miata is cooler than ANY fwd 4 banger. And miata get a rap for being a fag/girl car, despite being a sweet handling affordable convertible. Explain to me rice folks how a 4 door civic is cooler?

And how are 240's rice?? Unless you start decking it out with stickers and wings, its a legit 2dr rwd sports car that can be made to go fast without a high amount of power. Ive been in my friend's 240's, with and without welded diffs and they are quite some fun. You'd be suprised how quick you can take corners with a completely new suspension and steering with coilovers and new tie rods, etc. One of them just got an SR20 the other day. Should be interesting...

Three kids in my town have their own little 240 group. Everyone one of them a complete sleeper. One has a RB26DET skyline motor, another has an SR20DET SE-R motor built using parts from both the Japanse and American models because they were never offered turbo'd here, and the last has the stock KA24DE with some minor bolt ons done but they are working on a putting together a quick daily driver and just making this one look real nice, not ricey but better then the some what multi colored, miss matched parts of the other two.

Awesome cars, I'm 6' 2" I fit fine

One thing i like about those as well as our xj's is it feels very direct with the road. Im not talking no power steering, no powerbrakes, etc. Some cars feel to fake like my parents WK (grand cherokee) or some of my friends midsize sedans. One of the other kids is turboing his KA-24 and a friend of mines' brother is doing some RB28, i think its a stroked RB25 but i could be wrong. In any case, rediculous power our of something so light = lots of fun.

as someone that just got some "rice" on the road as a DD.
I can see why a civic would be fun to make into a sleeper.
Damned thing weighs 2K lbs, and came from the factory with a decent suspension. Some adjustable coil overs and about another 40 hp and the damned thing would be a blast.
I can't say that I condone the "rice" scene of lights and wings and bling, but there also seem to be a lot of people with stock looking civics/crx's and other shoebox imports that are kick ass. I think that those people detest the rice just like we detest JU.

You'll notice that, even though the title of this thread includes the word 'rice', I haven't touched it. Absolutely nothing wrong with a 240. Always liked the 'Datsun' 2x0 series of RWD two seaters.

A friend's dad, when I was growing up, had a Datsun 2000 Roadster. One day we had a hail storm and his dad ran out and threw himself across the car. The hail was nearly golf ball size. It didn't hurt the car, but he was beat all to hail :D

We used to run a '61 Triumph TR-3. I don't have anything against small, necessarily. It's just the whole FWD 1-3L scene that thinks they're so cool that erks me.

Jap made car= Rice.

Sorry no other way to look at it. Cool car or not.

My only exception is the Datsun 2x0 line of RWD 2-seaters.
