Has anyone seen this...

We have been warning you and thousands of others that this day would come. On October 1, 2009 a congressional committee will consider a wilderness bill that would turn 9.4 million acres of Utah public land into congressionally designated wilderness. This is a major step towards the closing of nearly 40% of all the land that BLM manages in Utah. This may seem surreal but it is actually happening. We must stop this bill. With your help we can do it. Please read this email in entirety, forward it to friends, and act on its call for help. With enough of you getting involved we guarantee we can either stop this bill or minimize the damage that it will cause.

Please click here to send a message to your congressman:

If you would like to read the propaganda from our opposition and the main proponents of the bill go here www.suwa.org. Be sure to take some anti-nausea medication these guys spin things pretty hard.

It's actually fairly typical. A lot of the movement to close trail systems and "preserve" natural habitat comes from outside the states involved. Same thing happens here in Colorado. It's why I personally am a fan of stronger state govt and a major reason why I joined the Colorado army natinal guard, instead of the reserves or active duty. I'm still army and have been and can still be called up for federal service, but I'm state govt first. That's why I went to louisiana after Katrina, performed security for the dnc, and have done blizzard, tornado, and forest fire missions.

Back on topic though, we really need to try and prevent this bill. At the very least support the associations that help fight to protect our wheeling trails. It's also why we need to stay on the trails and clean up after ourselves when we wheel. Don't go wheeling with major leaks and if you spill oil make sure you dig up the dirt and take it with you. The better we take care of our trails the less fuel is out there for the people trying to close them

Now why the hell would they go and do that??? Just plain stupid.

I emailed our rep if that makes any difference. I would be surprised if any of our (Colorado) reps were for the bill. Anything done in Utah will set precedents for what happens here in Colorado...

Stupid.... YES!! Sadly there are those out there that could care less about us and our hobby who will do everything they can to shut us down!! Shutting down Moab would be like shutting down Yellowstone NP!! Utah would stand to loose alot of tourist dollars if that actually goes through!! It is time to write/e-mail our reps as well as Utah reps to let them know this would be a tragedy!!

Mark Udall and Diana Degette both sponsor the bill.

Well then let us write them and let them know if they support this bill then they will not have our support!!

Done. Sen. Mike Coffman has received an e-mail from me asking he oppose the bill........

Rep doug Lambourn has received a letter from me and several friends as well.
Thanks for the info!!!

So I am working in Morrison on a stucco job. And the home owner works with natural gas companies to develop new wells. He said this bill has been introduced every year for the last 20 years. He said the bill won't pass but it keeps getting introduced to keep the greenies happy. He said the greenie orgs do this to keep the money flowing in. Cause if they actually get the land turned into preserves no more money from donors. So it all boils down to getting money.

He also said that our old buddy Ken Salazar ( Bamster interior sectary) stopped all permits for new oil and gas wells. And not one permit has been issued since the beginning of the year. The permit fees over 100 million dollars have not been returned to the people trying to get the permits. And the people trying to get the permits are small businesses people who are taking 2nd mortgage on there houses. Totally screwed by special interests. Got love the clowns we have running the show around here.

This is only the begining..... This is why, we as americans have to push for term limits for our elected officials, and keep the "Statist's" out of Washington and our life........ :hang:

They are liberals.

Fred

I'm a liberal... I don't think that has anything to do with it. I believe shutting it down, like Raptor said, would make Utah lose A LOT of tourist dollars.. I mean who wants to go to Utah OTHER than Moab...:twak:

Maybe for these reasons...
Zion
Bryce Canyon
Arches
Canyonlands
Capitol Reef
Grand Circle
Mesa Verde National Park
Grand Canyon

And yes my friend it is your liberal buddies doing this. All the sponsors are Dems. They are ones who are almost always in bed with the greenies. We still like ya. You are young and once you realize your full potential you will realize that you don't need Gov to fix everything. Like JFK said...

Mesa Verde is mostly in Colorado! Grand Canyon is mostly in Arizona!! I do believe some of those others are effected by the land closure. There are other reasons as well to visit Utah BUT Moab is huge there!! I lived there years ago in a small town called Heber City and worked as a stone mason in Park City. If for some reason Moab and surrounding lands get closed to motor traffic, it is going to be very bad for Utah!!

“Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has not heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains.” - Winston Churchill

Maybe read up on the differences between liberalism and conservatism.... Youve still got 10 years ;)

I suscribe to no political party!! Both Liberals and conservatives have screwed things up!! One can be overly liberal or conservative which does nobody any good! Being apart of either just makes it easier for yall to fight like a bunch of school children!! Why, I say why be apart of either........ If you truly love this country YOU should be for the people and their best interests and very very few politicians actually stand up for the people!! Most are in it for the power and security it gives them...... one damn term ( good or bad ) and they have their salary for life not to mention healthcare and bodyguards!! The political system is geared for those within it not for those outside of it! There was a time when it was about US the people! Today if you really STOP and take inventory of the freedoms you have and compare that to the freedoms that our great granparents had......... you will realize that our socalled freedoms have been chipped away to the point where we are really NOT free at all!! We threw a tea party many years ago because of unjust taxes.....WELL people are you blind to the unjust taxes today??????? We the people are told how to live in every aspect of life under the guise of what once was real freedom!! Wake-up America before it is too late!! :rtm:
