Midwest Fishing!

went out after some crappies tonight...had about 100 bites in 2 hours. landed a couple but lost a ton of fish. i used to be really good at catching crappies, so i guess i'll have to get some more practice in :)

These were some of those xxx baits, only five in a pack, they were super stretchy like 100x normal worms, on another note my son hooked this catfishing about a min ago

the fleet (notice anything different about my reels?)

from left to right:
- abu C3 on a 7'10" rod, 20lb mono. usually used for spooks and deep diving cranks.
- abu C3 on a 6'6" rod, 20lb mono. jigging rod, open water, not usually heavy cover.
- (x3) curado, on a 7' rod, 20lb braid. good for everything... top water, cranks, spinners, texas rig, carolina rig, even finesse.
- curado, on a 6'6" rod. designated carolina worm rig.
- abu cardinal on an 6'6" medium action abu cadinal rod, my go to finesse rod.

all the bait casters are BPS extreme series rods, MH action. i need to get a 7' MH rod for my cardinal, its a little light for hook sets, and pulling bass out of cover.

went fishing again this morning. lots of rain pushed cold water into the lake... making them a little more lathargic. even though i wanted to do top water, i went with a fluke. caught a couple, but them switched to a yamamoto senko i had in my box. bought them years ago when they were the lure to have, never caught shit... they slayed today. lots of fun.

Nothing different all mine are left hand retrieve also!!! Same exact reels!!! And had the bps rods as well, only have one 6.6 left using an Allstar mh 6.6 on other.

You guys try their Carbon Lite?

I will be adding the Carrot Stix to my arsenal for the Salmon run
carbon lite? from BPS? no, all ive bought is the extreme series because they go on sale so often. lol.

but after using a carrot stix, im not sure i can buy another. those rods are pure secks. i havent found anything with the same flex. and uber light to boot. but the $150+ price tag is hard to swallow. but compared to the AFAW and St. Croix surf rods i had... thats nothing.

Fish: Muskies, Walleyes, small mouth bass are the top of my list in the summer months. Panfish make up my ice fishing.
Equipment: Pfleuger reels and St. Croix rods. Spinning and baitcasters. Just bought a Pflueger Patriarch and put it on a new St.Croix EYEcon.
Wintertime I use St.Croix and Fenwick equipment. FL18 Vexilar Ultra Pack is also included.

Boat: 2012 Crestliner Fish Hawk 1650. 90HP 4Stroke Merc, Ipilot, HDS7 dash, Elite 5 bow.....

I fish mostly Canadian Shield lakes up here in North Eastern MN.

Fished some with the future father-in law. Fished for 3 hours. Trolled for 2 of the hours and picked up all these fish but the Perch. There was 3 Northern Pike range in size was 28", 26," 23". Also caught about 12 perch ranging from 5 1/2"- 13". Then there was two small mouth bass one at 10" and the other was 19". Action was steady but other than the perch and the larger Northern size was lacking. Had better days. Not only that it was HOT.

Too many shackers. I try not to fish on the weekends for that reason. Tuesday thru Wednesday and I bet we would have netted some 30"+ pike and the walleye bite would have been awesome. Fish seem to get spooked too easy by too many boats up here.

Can't wait to go again. Need to get me another 14' John boat as mine was stolen last year. I left it chained on County property about 2 1/2 miles in off the beaten path covered in brush and chained to a tree as I was going to come back and get it once the snow was on the ground and sled it out when I was going to go ice fish there.:smsoap:

According to my trail cam no one has been to a lake I know with huge crappies since May 2010

You guys use some expensive gear. I stick with Ugly Sticks and Quantum Snapshot. Cheap is good for me as I have a 10 year old and fish in some rough areas. The 7 year warranty has helped me more than 3 times already on the rods.
