I just wish I could afford to buy a house.

You know what makes me sick.... Is my father sold our house in Venice, Ca. (Moderate 3 b/r 1940-50 ish home) for $175K in 1981, he bought it in 1970 for $68k....... Get this we heard it just sold for $950k!!!! I drove by that house a few months ago and the neighborhood & house hasn't changed since 1980......

I'm currently renting from POPs.... :rattle:

I grew up in SoCal and didn't like it. Now that I'm up in NorCal and happy, I have found that socal is a nice place to visit. It's fun to show friends around the cheesy sights (Disneyland, Sunset Blvd, the beaches, etc) but living there I just wanted to get out. Also I was like a bubble boy growing up with asthma and allergies but now that I moved away from the sprawl I have no health problems. Like Brett said, enjoy the school then move north. After living in both, I can say NorCal is way better.

Grew up in SD OC and now Corona... Been in the Navy... Stationed in:
Alameda (Bay area) Vallejo (Napa) Virginia Beach, DC and SD. Been completely around the world to serveral different countries. and I would never want to live anywhere else...

I spend most of my youth in fullerton ( right next to Whittier)... and Whittier is a great location... you are not really in LA... I have snowboarded and surfed in the same day... I have 4x4 and surfed in the same day... It is true that traffic sucks... but every other place I went was no different... If I was by a big city...

You will meet your share of a-holes, but most people are cool if you talk to them... and hey--- there are all of the car chases you will get to see on TV now...

I think you will enjoy your time here... and good luck with the football... maybe when you start playing you can tell us your name and we can see how you did in the paper... thats your call though...

welcome to Cali...
